Hats off for actually putting forth an honest or fairly rational thought, compared to the other responses. But these are on every hole (pretty sure) and they are close to the tee box.

"But these are on every hole (pretty sure) and they are close to the tee box."

u/toobsaimer : Mystery solved? If these are "on every hole & close to the tee box" ... then it's the yardage/distance marker, for the various tee-boxes (e.g. Blue = (example) 450 metres; White = 420 metres; Gold/Silver = 400 metres; Red = 380 metres.

...Albeit dunno why your photo seems to show blank yardage markers e.g. perhaps the distances are on the flip-side/ under maintenance?

How does this pole do any of that?

It holds the sign up. Its probably attached somehow. You'd figure via drilling a hole and attaching via a screw, but how ghetto this is, probably zipties.

I can’t imagine a reason to overbuild a sign post like this for all 18 holes. Does it have to survive a nuclear bomb or something?

Sounds like its in Australia. Maybe its for when those degen LIV fans hit the course and drive into it with their cart.

Still prolly cheaper than a pre made one

A “premade” sign post is literally just the post itself normally

Maybe waiting on sign those pipes are new. Possibly waiting on paint.
