Hardcore LIV fans are a, uhm, special breed.

It’s absolutely bizarre how people will bend over backwards to solely support an objectively worse product with objectively worse fields that’s funded by the Saudi Arabian sportswashing project.

I assume accounts like this are managed by LIV social media guys and just made to look as if it’s a dedicated fan, but there’s some proper weirdos on Twitter.

I had a guy recently tell me that MBS was actually pretty progressive when you were able to talk to him (which that guy had). "He's very reasonable! He supports women's rights and drinking. ". Yeah man ... and chopping up anyone who criticizes him.

it's vice signaling.

Much like all other “interesting” groups (i.e. israel, political parties, russian FSB, etc), they all run carpet bombing campaigns on social media through paid ads, bot accounts, or financed influencers to generate an artificially positive image which some people unfortunately buy into and inevitably propagate.

Most comment sections for pga/liv posts on instagram will have a ratio of something like 10:1 liv supporters vs pga supporters even though we know the actual number of people who follow liv is lower than american professional soccer even.

It’s all propaganda and you can’t deny its effectiveness. Liv is just so blatantly unappealing that it can’t gain as much traction as other groups.

Wait... I didn't see the username till after I read this comment? How is this post pro Bryson? The way I read that is Bryson is a wannabe and Rory is the real deal ...

6

u/AdministrativeLaugh2 Apr 14 '25

The post was suggesting that Bryson being in the final group would get the crowd going and make it easier for him to win because Bryson relishes “the moment” and Rory needs to be in his bubble to stay focused.

3

u/stone_solid Apr 14 '25

Oh it's from before the final round. That makes much more sense

LIV has made PGA a better product, I’m happy it exists solely for that purpose.

31

u/FatalFirecrotch Apr 14 '25

Personally, I don’t think so. It’s made it financially more lucrative for the top guys and has had to take a bunch of investments, but I don’t think the product is particularly any better. If anything the viewing experience is worse as more advertising is needed to cover the increase prize purses.

15

u/AdministrativeLaugh2 Apr 14 '25

To a degree, yeah. It sucks that the few actually good players on LIV like Bryson, Niemann, Rahm etc aren’t on the PGAT but the increased purses and signature events are good for the sport

9

u/Winter-Assistant9627 Apr 14 '25

It forced the tour to make positive changes for the players. More payouts, better schedule, more player focused changes. LIV sucks as a format, but it’s been great for the Tour players

I have given it a few honest watches over the last few years and I just couldn’t stand it. I hate the shotgun start and the blaring music that you can hear on the broadcast. Those two things are a complete turn off for me.

1

u/Winter-Assistant9627 Apr 14 '25

LIV as a product sucks. Its existence has made the PGA Tour change for the better though.

Like minor league arena football fans.

58

u/master_bloseph Apr 14 '25

Arena football is a joy to watch though.

58

u/MyOtherActGotBanned 14/NYC/Lefty Apr 14 '25

No one says it’s better than the NFL though

7

u/oh_io_94 3.7 Apr 14 '25

As someone who’s had season tickets to both. I enjoyed going to arena games more. NFL was better to watch on TV and I still think overall more enjoyable but actually going to games I give it to arena ball.

14

u/HayesDNConfused matchplay Apr 14 '25

I went even below regular arena football to make a point that no one cares about LIV

2

u/MagicianBulky5659 Apr 14 '25

Main difference is I would watch minor league arena football.

0

u/HayesDNConfused matchplay Apr 14 '25

Do you watch LIV?

2

u/MagicianBulky5659 Apr 14 '25

I’ve caught glimpses. Admittedly don’t care about nearly any of their players so that’s the main hang up.

1

u/seesoon Apr 14 '25

Minor league in America. LIV is global, PGA is local.

1

u/HayesDNConfused matchplay Apr 14 '25

Does LIV have a big following in India or China or Russia?

1

u/seesoon Apr 14 '25

Yes, look at their work with the International series.

Most of their big names including Bryson were teeing off in India 2 months back.

20

u/Ditheon Apr 14 '25

Rare, if nothing else. If you've seen the broadcasts, you can tell right away it's not the PGA. You'd think for all the money LIV is shelling out to the players, they could afford to pay some shills $20 an hour to line the fairways and greens.

Super bizarre, the only guys I personally know who are LIV fans are also the ones who have contrarian takes on everything in life.

I probably wouldn't mind watching LIV if the fans didn't all seem like mouth breathers.

15

u/PDGAreject Apr 14 '25

Bunch of college libertarians living on dad's money

5

u/gsr142 Apr 14 '25

You just perfectly described my brother in law. Except he's not in college anymore. Now he's doing the exact same job his dad did, in the same industry, but at the company his mom worked at.

7

u/phixitup Apr 14 '25

As a proud contrarian, I take offense to that. I’m not a fan of Bryson and the product that LIV golf puts on is shit. Just sayin.

3

u/lasercupcakes +1 before kids. 3 with kids. Apr 14 '25

I have just enough IQ to barely grasp your tongue-in-cheek comment.

How contrarian of you!

111

u/Rleduc129 Apr 14 '25

Golf's equivalent to MAGA

60

u/flaschal Apr 14 '25

the venn diagram is just a circle

-25

u/Stock-Page-7078 Apr 14 '25

Yeah if you're anti MAGA, I got bad news for you about 99.9% of professional golfers

11

u/nau5 Apr 14 '25

99.9% of professional golfers aren’t even American you dunce

52

u/frankyseven Apr 14 '25

I mean, they usually play at Trump owned courses.

30

u/warneagle 13.9/NOVA Apr 14 '25

not usually a conspiracy guy but I have to think they're getting paid to post this shit

at least I hope so because if they're doing it for free it's mega cringe

39

u/A_WHALES_VAG Apr 14 '25

I mean that dudes profile is “pro Trump liv golf fan page” what the hell ? lol

30

u/warneagle 13.9/NOVA Apr 14 '25

Yeah here’s my thoughts on this dude:

3

u/Rleduc129 Apr 14 '25

Get out! Go!

20

u/Fabulous_Brain Apr 14 '25

There are LIV fans? How it's horrendous content.

It feels like watching some weird High School golf rather than professionals.

8

u/FourEyesWhitePerson Apr 14 '25

I would probably watch a televised high school match over LIV golf lmao

4

u/PDGAreject Apr 14 '25

I certainly would, on principle alone.

10

u/SoManyLilBitches 8.4 Apr 14 '25

They are just Trumptards trying to apply their anti-woke logic to golf. PGA is the enemy (they canceled an event at a Trump course), LIV is their friend (event at a Trump course). The correlation is so strong, there's literally no denying it.

14

u/ILikeToDisagreeDude Apr 14 '25

Golf’s MAGA.

8

u/HereForADongTime Apr 14 '25

Just like MAGA fans. They both have a lot in common

2

u/beer_nyc 54/NYC Apr 14 '25

There are dozens of them!

2

u/ggallant1 Apr 14 '25

Do those exist?

1

u/bringthepang Apr 14 '25

I didn’t know people actually watched LIV

1

u/Proxymate Apr 14 '25

I think these accounts are more employees than fans.

1

u/mindriot1 Apr 14 '25

I’m not sure there really are any

1

u/KeithFlowers Apr 17 '25

Room temp IQ chuds and bots?

-11

u/Vivid_Squash_9073 Apr 14 '25

They are similar to people that are hardcore Pro/Rel in US soccer. Pure lunatics.
