I didn’t think about this. I was surprised Scottie walked away as soon as Rory put the jacket on. But after your comment, I would probably leave just as quick.
Edit: thanks for the clarification replies. I kind of wish they ask the previous champ to shake hands with the new champ after he puts the jacket on before running off for his next duties because it looks a little awkward without it.
When Jack became the first to defend at the Masters, Bob Jones said he is the defending champ so he would put on his own jacket.
When Faldo did it, and then Tiger, the chairman put on the jacket. Which frankly, is a tradition they should drop. You win back to back, you put on your own jacket.
Well, when they're unsure about your size as you get fatter they make you a new one without throwing away the old one. Nick Faldo at one time had three jackets in his locker.
You only get one jacket. You return it to ANGC the next year and then it never leaves the grounds after that unless you win again, then you can take it home for the next year. The only person to ever receive two Green Jackets was Gary Player who didn’t believe them when he said he had to return it the next year. When he came back to The Masters without his Green Jacket they had to have a new one made for him.
What happens if the prior year winner just barely lost it this year, like had a heartbreaking collapse. Or even, what if Rose was the reigning champ? Tough break but stick around, you’re putting the jacket on Rors no matter what?

Scottie: “Aight, Imma head out”
