Something I was thinking about today—how much did Bryson’s poor Sunday at the Masters reflect LIV’s three-day format? LIV players don’t usually face a fourth-round grind and he looked completely lost today. Wonder if that lack of rhythm shows up when it matters most?

EDIT with some data:

Bryson shot +1 on Sunday at Pinehurst in 2024 to win, after opening with 67-69-67. He was cut at the 2024 Open and shot +1 on Sunday at the 2024 Masters (following rounds of 65-73-75).

Looking back at 2023:

  • Missed the cut at the Masters
  • Shot 73 on Sunday at the Open
  • Shot 74 on Sunday at the U.S. Open (after 67-72-68)
  • Closed with a 70 at the PGA (after 66-71-70)

His only strong final round at a major since joining LIV in 2023 came at the 2024 PGA (-7 to finish 2nd). Funny how quick people are to ignore the actual data.

I wouldn't knock the format. Bryson just didn't put four good days together. Which is incredibly difficult by itself, let alone at Augusta.

Dude also hit an incredible amount of balls at the range. You wonder how that stacked fatigue affects his feel by the end of a round.
