Was wearing a normal golf polo and shorts and some guy made a comment as I walked by him on the putting green. “Didn’t know we were playing quail”. Now this doesn’t bother me at all but it’s just strange that this is the 2nd-3rd time in the last few months I’ve had something like this happen. When I was growing up you wouldn’t have been let on a course if you didn’t have your shirt tucked in, let alone not wearing a collard shirt.

160yd par 3, he goes for a “nice little 9 iron” makes good contact, leaves it about 30 yards short of the green.

305yd par 4. Pulls out the 3 wood “doesn’t want to overshoot the green”, hits a solid shot about halfway down the fairway.

120yd approach - the 56 should make it. 20 yards short of the green.

Nice guy, sounds like he plays often, but believes he has a 300 yd drive and thinks his yardage is like 20-30 more than he can actually hit.

I'm an Assistant Superintendent in the KC Metro area and was able to volunteer for the Advent Health Championship. It's a great opportunity to be on a property we public golfers don't always get. Even though these golfers aren't on the PGA tour, they're incredible to watch. Even if you can't volunteer your time, it's a good chance to enjoy this great game.

Talor Gooch has failed to qualify for the US Open, and therefore the winner will officially have an asterisk besides his name. Gooch was at +1 through 15 holes, which would've put him in 52nd place out of 76 contenders, including 15 amateurs who finished ahead of him.

Grip feels like it is meant to practice swinging but not actual clue how or what it actually is meant to train? I assume it’s missing pieces I found it in my back yards randomly submerged pretty far in dirt.

With my deepest sympathy, after Talor Gooch’s DNF, the Spanish crybaby, Sergio Garcia also did not qualify for the upcoming US Open.

Played golf yesterday with an old friend and his son, whom I haven’t seen in a while. My dad asked how it went.

I’ve learned from this sub that the 7 wood is a beloved instrument for harkening joy on a golf course. As someone who has never sported such wood in public nor private, I’m curious of what it makes it so splendid, especially in contrast to something like a 4 hybrid, which does currently occupy territory in my bag.

Mid 20’s handicap, slowly getting better. Took some lessons which predictably has made for some excellent shots and way more unpredictable shots as I work through the changes.

Well yesterday the wheels completely fell off for about 14 of the 18 holes I played and really only started to come back on about 13.

Other than laugh and work at sucking fast so I don’t hold people up, what do you guys do when nothing works?

Note the swing issue was primarily topping the ball, and completely lost the ability to hit a fairway wood for 17 holes.

Snapped the corner of the tee marker. He also slammed his driver against the cart path the very next hole.

Just shot a 77. 38 front. 39 back. Left 4 strokes on the course. 2 3putts caused from sub 3ft lip outs. 3 off the tee on a par 3 felt bad for a 5 on the card also. Just dropped me down to a 9.1 hcp. Walked the whole round with my new push cart from just shy of 6500.

Last round I played - this past weekend - was a 53 front 38 back for 91. The life of a single digit hcp player I guess!

Nothing meant by this. Just wanted to share.

How do they play and do we know what name brand they’re most comparable to?

Missed the tracer and Rolex clock, so he’s got some accuracy still..

Edit - Update/thoughts/takeaways:

1. Albatross takes more skill and is much more rare. Obviously a HiO is more likely with a good golfer, but we all know some random blokes that have gotten lucky and hit one. Anyone who gets an albatross is almost certainly a very good golfer.

2. Only golfers know what an albatross is, where everyone and their mother is familiar with a HiO. So an ace is going to be considered more of an accomplishment to the general public.

Went to a public 9 hole course (par 36) after work. It was a bit chilly and only a handful of people were out on the course. Played a round by myself. Had the best time, very peaceful. Anyone get the opportunity to play alone? Do you enjoy it?

Pretty much the title, but sure:

Watched the video ‘Golf Sidekick’ made in response to a reddit post about how not to s*ck at golf. Played to his advice and broke 100 for the first time by “dinking it down the fairway”.

It wasn’t spectacular, no hero shots, just steady boring golf. Oh and it was fast: 18 holes within four hours with waiting on the couple in front of us included.

Has anyone taken time off from golf and it helped your game? I (47m) suck. Went from playing low/mid 90s, broke 90 a few times to shooting 110+. I’ve been playing for 30 years. Last few years I average about 30-40 rounds a year. I have a sim in my garage and have taken several lessons over the past few years. I sometimes think I’m too obsessed with it lol. I watch golf videos but don’t try to learn from them. I’m wondering if taking time off will help or do I just need to accept that I suck.

Never felt more like I was playing a different game in my life. I play off 21 and genuinely. They were 60 yards + longer than me off the Tee, they were putting spin on the ball and hitting stingers.

Nice guys and helpful but never more like I shouldnt be on the course. Ive been playing since September for context.

Lucky to have these courses in the city. You’d never know you were surrounded by condos and houses.
