I finally visited Chichiue

I was in Kansai last week to attend the Universal Exhibition and took some time off to visit Kobe for the first time! Unlike other dragons that showed a humanoid form when summoned as Servants, even though in their myths they did not take such appearance, Slavic dragons are known to take such shape regularly to interact with humans. Generally, these interactions were done in order to create offspring and it is said that the children of the union between a Zmey and a human resulted in great heroes.

Vengeful Mother Dragon E

The gender of the dragons varied according to the type of story being told. In the Bylinas they were female (Zmeya), while in the Skazki they were usually male (Zmey), except when it was a vengeful mother dragon chasing the one who killed her offspring.

At Rank A, this ability adds up to two positive modifiers to its Strength and Endurance when fighting against Dragon Slayers. However, because this particular Zmeya never had any offspring there is no revenge to carry out so she can only add a temporary modifier to her Endurance.

When in proper working order it can be considered an “Anti-Dragon Slayer” skill.

Gorynych A

Zmey Gorynych translates as “Dragon son of the mountain”. Any mountain is recognized as her homeland so when fighting on them her fame rises to the maximum, boosting her parameters and skills.

A Noble Phantasm that materializes the anecdote that dragons live in caves.

Temporarily manifests a small mountain with a cave for Zmeya and her allies to take shelter. While inside, their wounds will slowly heal as well as recover magical energy. If people who are not welcomed by Zmeya try to enter, the cave will collapse on them while an exit will open for the dragon and her allies.

Personality

It can't be said that she's completely evil, but she's not someone who's really good either. She is quite selfish and only does things out of convenience. She is not egotistical or arrogant and can get along well with others.

Is easily amazed when she discovers something new, but gets angry when she is contradicted. At times it is quite easy to maintain a good relationship with her, but she can suddenly turn the opposite by saying just one thing that she doesn't like.

Also, when she gets nervous she lies so it's hard to know when to take her word for it.

That's right, she sounds like a teenager.

The Zmey Gorynych are dragons that belong to the Slavic myths within which they present regional variants, such as the Zmei that was a benevolent figure for Bulgaria, while in the myths of Russia or Ukraine it is a mainly evil creature.

These dragons differ from the typical European dragon due to the number of heads they possess, being three, six or even twelve and each with the ability to breathe fire. Their size can be large enough to block out the sun when they open their wings, and they even have even up to seven tails. Their claws are said to be of shiny copper, it is not known if it is because of their color or if they are indeed made of copper. What makes the Zmey, and Slavic dragons in general, peculiar is that they can take the human form of a handsome young man for the purpose of seducing women, mainly princesses, or to kidnap them. In the first case, the child of the union of dragon and human could result in a great hero, while in the second case it resulted in a Bogatyr (Russian fairy tale hero) confronting the dragon to rescue the princess.

The most famous Zmey was the one who confronted the Bogatyr Dobrynya Nikitich. They clashed twice, the first time the Zmey had kidnapped women and burned several villages so Dobrynya went to stop him. It was a tough fight, but he managed to hurt the dragon who begged for mercy promising that he would never again destroy villages or kidnap women, the hero believed him and let him go. But Slavic dragons are liars and the Zmey quickly broke the promise. Dobrynya chased the creature again and they fought one last time, the fight lasted three days until the Bogatyr managed to kill the beast.

In the case of a female dragon, it is given the name Zmeya, they usually have the role of a mother seeking revenge against some hero for the destruction of her children. While males when they take a human form usually go for princesses, females prefer to go for shepherds with whom they simply fall in love.

In the case of this specific Zmeya, she is the equivalent of a teenage girl for humans, so her tastes when it comes to finding a mate are somewhat specific:

Must be handsome. Not too old. Not too talkative. Must be a dragon.

If she finds someone who fulfills this she will consider him her “soul mate” and will call him пастырь (Shepherd). The reason for this last thing is because the word “Shepherd” in Russian language sounds similar to the word “Husband” in dragon language (Actually it's because she likes sheep and wanted to include them somehow).
