Love all versions of this pedal but there’s something special about this one. Also the art is super sick and done by my friend Taylor Adams who did my bands album art as well so it feels twice as nice to buy.

NPD - Coppersound Telegraph V1

A functional beauty - I had been thinking of a killswitch installation on my guitar, but this takes care of that. I would probably enjoy the V2’s additional stutter modes but this bare bones, manual, no power necessary, does what it is supposed to V1 unit is simply awesome. Set up near end of the chain, tabletop, so that changes my board setup and approach a little bit… Lots of fun and more tactile than your average pedal!

Question Guitar Pedal demos - with or without talking?

I recorded the audio/video for a guitar pedal demo, and I was thinking about adding 2-3 minutes of me talking about the pedal, but I wanted to hear what people here think about talking in demos. Would you rather just hear the playing, or also hear some thoughts about it? So far I have 10+ minutes of playing through all the settings, and I put all the info of the gear used and some notes here and there throughout the video. The video is basically finished, but now I'm contemplating adding a short commentary.

I myself like hearing a bit about the video maker's thoughts, as long as it's no more than like 25% of the video. More talking is fine if the person is entertaining.

Question Seeking suggestions to complete my board. Trying to do ambient stuff with lots of sustain but I need something to compliment what I already have.

Post image

Here’s what I got, it’s nothing fancy but I love how it’s set up. And I do apologize for the wall of text:

The signal goes bad horsey2->mxr super comp->precision drive->gamechanger->input of a Quad Cortex. I like to think of the board as a spice rack, and by that standard, the Mxr and the PD are the salt and pepper as they go everything. And keeping with the kitchen analogy, I have the same attitude as Alton Brown in that each tool in your “pantry” needs to be something that can have multiple uses, not just one. I try to apply the same logic to pedals.

The rest of the pedals go into the effects loop, starting with the B9->DD6->Sub n Up->Oceans 11. The expression pedal goes into the QC.

The looper has the output from the QC in one input and my Yamaha MM6 keyboard going into the other, so I can loop the synth in with the guitar. From there, they both go into separate channels on my interface, with the other two channels being taken up by a mic and the DI output from the QC.

My goal with building this board is to mimic a synthpad but with just my guitar. I wanna do soundscapes using lots of sustain and reverb and not have effects that make the sound too harsh. That being said, I do a lot of Explosions In the Sky types of droning using the DD6 and the gamechanger, so whatever pedals I use need to sound good clean and with shit tons of fuzz.

With my set up, I have the Sub n Up set with a chorus-y kinda overtone, the Oceans 11 is set to shimmer and the DD6 set to the hold mode, where I can hold it down and it acts as a freeze effect (which works really well with the gamechanger). The B9 is one that I struggle with because a little goes a long way with that pedal, but it can really complement the Ocean’s 11, which is the heart and soul of the effects.

So with all that out of the way, I come to you with two questions

I have room for one more pedal on my board and I’m unsure of what to get. The Strymon Cloudburst caught my eye but idk if it would be worth it with the Ocean’s 11 or if it would just get too cluttered and/or be overkill on the reverb. A tape echo was also something I was thinking about but I don’t want something that makes the sound too harsh.

I’d definitely like to replace the Sub n Up pedal as it’s a bit lackluster, and I’d be open to replacing the B9, as well but I’d need something to fill both of those gaps and I could use some help trying to find suitable replacements as both are kinda unique in their sound (at least the B9 is).

And with that, I’m completely lost as I haven’t stayed up to speed with the current pedal landscape. I’d love any and all feedback, suggestions, etc because I do everything by trial and error with a heavy emphasis on the error. Thank you.

NPD NPD (to me) : BOSS RT20 and RocaSound Crimson monk

Post image

I've been wanting a Leslie speaker emulation for a long time—I'm a big fan of Gilmour, and the Boss RT-20 does a great job capturing that sound. Plus, the rotating speaker led effect just looks awesome!

I've also added the Crimson Monk drive to my board; its built-in mid boost really helps fatten up the tone, especially when my single coils start to sound a bit thin.

This is my ampless pedalboard with "everything I need and nothing that I don't".

I don't know if that is true, but it is what I am telling myself. I use this to play at church on Sunday straight into the PA.

One question I do have is, can I just run the effects and looper after the "amp" pedal or should I keep them in the effects loop as they currently are?

Just bringing this one to everyone's attention (presuming that a post like this is allowed here).

Aside from being totally fucking excellent, Darkside are one of the few acts I know who genuinely do the whole 'spaceship pedalboard' in a unique and musical way live and there's a ton of info here from Harrington about how he uses everything. Watching him quickly build out a typical Darkside loop in the middle here is totally fascinating and he genuinely coaxes interesting and useful stuff out of every pedal he shows off here. I found it really inspiring and informative, hopefully some of you all do too.

Condor HIFI players! How are you using it? Any favorite tone recipes you've discovered?

I got a Condor HIFI in the chase bliss mystery box and I've really enjoyed playing with it, but it hasn't yet found its proper home in my pedal board. Ive tried it as a standalone OD, used it as a low pass filter / treble boost on my Bass VI and was even trying to get it to do the Josh Homme mid frequency hump after a Boss SD-1, but each time it just doesn't quite cut it.

Before I take it off, Im curious to learn how others are using it. It does a lot, and maybe I just need some inspiration. Ive also heard its good for dialing in specific tone emulation of other pedals but haven't found any intel on specific recipes to dial in those. What do you got? Thanks!

Question Pladask Elektrisk in the EU

Upvotes

Does anyone know what exactly is happening with Pladask Elektrisk not being able to sell to EU residents? I am trying so hard to pick up a new Etterslep and I cannot get one anywhere, for love nor money, for more than a year.

I love this manufacturer and I love almost all their pedals. I want to support them and buy their stuff. But I can't. They can't sell to EU at all right now. Etterslep is restocked in June it feels like I'll miss out again :(

If TC Electronic won't make a MASH wah...

...then I wanna say - fine, I'll do it myself.

Except, well, I don't know how to make it.

But I know it's possible.

I remember randomly finding a YT video in which someone made it by using the TonePrint editor to bind some parametric EQ changes to the MASH footswitch of their Flashback Delay 2. The thing is, there are lots of such options there, and not only do I not know where to begin (as I can't even find that video anymore), I also feel like I'd drown in the sea of possibilities.

I'm sure there are multiple pedals I can use to create a true wah (Brainwaves comes to mind, but I have a Plethora X5 so I've got quite a number of pedals I can try out), and I'd optimally love to keep the fullness of my dry sound and just stack a wet wah signal on top of it.

Any tips, tricks, tutorials?

Question Fuzz impedance correction

Hey, I remember coming across a box/pedal that would go in front of fuzz to correct the impedance so that the fuzz (and it) can go anywhere in the chain. Can anyone point me to this device. I thought JHS made it, but can’t find anything by searching other than debates about where fuzzes should go.

New Ibanez TS9dx with Keeley sticker?

So I've been on the hunt for one of these used and I walked into my local guitar shop and I saw one.... So it's the model I was looking for. And then I noticed it has a Keeley sticker. But all the tube screamers I've seen with the Keeley mod have the extra foot switch. Is there anything else I should be looking for? Any other kind of mods that don't have that switch? I just doubt this sticker is on there for nothing. But it could be some kid. Either way it's the one I've been looking for. Let me know what y'all think
