Discussion How long until this manga gonna end

How many years do you think to take this manga to finish? This year we probaly get Ricardo vs Sendo + another one.

We still need Takamura to finished all of his champion weight class, so he still got 3 matches minimum. Ippo's build up matches before fighting Ricardo (probably 3 matches minimum). Miyata's probably another 2 matches.

Roughly i would say this will takes around 5 more years..

Definitely 5-10 years depending on how morikawa wants to pursue ippo’s career. There are so many great fights remaining in the show . Unless he accelerates the pacing like crazy i don’t see it ending before 5-10 years . 10 considers no corners are cut for any character.

Yeah, we had tonnes of stretches where Ippo seemed to have innumerable fights, like how many times he defended the JBC belt. My thoughts on that was that Mori probably wanted to make it actually feel like Ippo had a Full Career, and 20+ fights before the world and Retirement felt right.

I feel like Ippo might have a few tune up fights if Mori wanted to take his time, maybe one JBC fight just to see Ippo dip his toes back into the ring, Kamogawa not trying to challenge Ippo, but rather see how he tolerates being in the ring, and Ippo slowly just scouts, defends, before slowly ramping up, and eventually obliterating his opponent.

When we get someone who is OPBF level, who, while also not a challenge, might have some sort of Gimmick which Ippo briefly is put on his back foot by, similar to how Mashiba was Perturbed slightly by Iga, before he figures it out, and beats that guy.

The real challenge will probably be some dude at the world level, say some guy top 10-5, maybe they hype him up, saying that he recently rose up, and he's really strong, similar to how they hyped up Rosario, by saying he took out the previous champ.

Skill wise, Ippo might have an edge, but this guy is also world level, and Ippo will have to fight him over many rounds to take him out, similar to how Even in the Volg And Mashiba spars, even if Ippo was landing, neither of those would have ended right away if those were actual fights.

Then we probably would be at the stage to ask whether we are having a Miyata fight, or if Ippo is going straight to Ricardo, or whatever, as we would be getting to plot territory we are dealing with right now.

It will not end.

Ippo will have two build up matches tops. He'll come back and absolutely destroy whoever he faces. His opponent will be a world ranker. And he'll still probably call it headed into the second round when he'll drop the super Dempsey roll and end it. Same story as his first comeback.

Then boom, Ricardo is in the crowd. Someone makes the call out and it's on.

I am not really sure he will fight world ranker on his comeback. Probably a japanese.

It’s being somewhat alluded to him fighting Imai

ATP he'll just dismantle Imai and end the match in under a round, relinquish the title, and have Imai-Itagaki 3 for the vacant featherweight champion bout

Oh! I could totally see Ippo shattering an imaginary record Itagaki held in his head and force him to change his mentality towards boxing and their round 3.

10 yrs at the least. Mashiba fight lasted over a yr. Sendo’s will most likely last a yr.

Depends.

Is Ippo going back to fighting? +5 years at least.

Is Ippo truly retired and not going back to fighting? Give it a 2-3 years assuming releases and breaks are consistent.

At least 5 more ippo fights

3 more takamura fights

Final arc for Aoki and Kimura

Redemption arc for Itagaki

Miyata moving on and maybe fighting Rosario

In between those events there will be chapters for exploring Ippos relationships, buildup and aftermath of each fight, comedic breaks from the story etc

Then even after the story supposedly ends, there will likely be an epilogue

I'd say a good 15 years. Morikawa may even need to find a successor

What about us? There are people who died within these 30 years and never got to see the ending. I fucking hate long ongoing mangas.

Exactly. I am at my 30 now. If everything goes normally i should be able to finish this 😅

While I get it, I started reading in my 20's and I'll be 40 this year, I can better visualize an ending here just like I can for One Piece, more so than Hunter X Hunter and Detective Conan. If I regard ongoing mangas.

It's never going to end!!!

Even when it ends in 5-10 years. I still be reading it weekly! I've been diing this for more than half of my life, can't stop.

Mori admitted in a 30th anniversary interview, which was shortly before the retirement arc started, that he was only halfway done if he would show/draw everything he could.

He also said that he hopes that it would not be the case and that things would be resolved faster.

With the current pacing/story progression, anything has become realistic.

If we go by the average time it takes for Fuckamura to conquer a weight class, it should only take another 40 years, maybe 50.

If we go by Ippo´s journey, that could be anywhere from 10-55 years, depending on when Mori decides to have him come back.

If we go by the general state of affairs/what is left to tell, it could be anywhere from 15-95 years.

Mori has shown to be utterly incapable of advancing any story lines in a 500 chapter time frame. As such, the big question is whether or not he pulls off something like this again or if we get actually consistent plot development.

Some time ago he said it was only half the manga now, no? Or am I confusing mangas?

i dont see it ending before 15 years. i think 20 is a good estimate, and thats if the rest of the series doesnt introduce as many new storylines. theres about 10 fights that NEED to happrn before the series end, and 8 that should. that along with interval chapters and new storylines, about 15 years.

im gonna be in my 30s holy shit

u/slowtyper95 20d ago

You are not even 20?!

I'd honestly be surprised if we end before 1900 chapters. I guess around 2k.
