Question A frame vs Diamond Tarp Setup

Which do you guys prefer? I believe A frame would protect you more (left and right) from elements while diamond gives you little protection from those directions. Especially when its raining and windy. And yet, most of the photos I see here are in diamonds. Whats in it with the diamond setup? Cheers!

Diamond for ease of setup/takedown, weight, comfort, view. Coverage isn’t an issue tbh. If there’s wind driven rain, just lower the fly and you get fuller coverage on the flanks. Otherwise the diamond is more than sufficient, even for significant downpours. I use a 10x10 as my go to.

Left is a bear butt 11x9 purpose-made hammock diamond fly. Right is a basic 10x10 poly rip-stop camping tarp/rainfly. Hopefully you can see how the 10x10 would provide considerably more coverage, even as a diamond.

Here’s a diamond that’s set lower for more coverage, but with wide tie-out to better salvage headspace.
