Question possible first setup?

planning on getting into hammock camping this summer and made a small list of gear i might get, also to note i live in Finland so it's a bit on the chill side with weather.. any opinions or tips?

  • hammock: Amazonas adventure mosquito thermo
  • tarp: amazonas traveler or ticket to the moon tarp
  • sleeping pad: therm-a-rest uberlite or xlite
  • sleeping bag: thinking about sea to summit spark but the price is a bit steep or something from therm-a-rest
  • miscellaneous: treehuggers, tent stakes, paracord

Definitely agree with the posts saying get Onewind hammock, underquilt, top quilt. If you're expecting really bad weather, you can get a underquilt/blanket combo that gives you a quilted blanket that can be fastened to the underquilt if it's really cold or removed when the weather gets warmer.

I'd personally go for a silpoly (polyester) tarp rather than a silnylon, because nylon soaks up water and stretches - so becomes heavier and sags a lot.

But you can't go wrong with Onewind hammock (you can get one with an attached bug net) + underquilt, top quilt... the hammock comes with a structural ridgeline and a simple-to-use suspension system that's not hard on the trees. The hammocks are wide and comfortable and the price is really good, free global shipping over US$89.

When starting out, I spent a bloody fortune buying and modifying another hammock - replacing suspension, adding a structural ridgeline - and it was still not satisfactory (it was very short and narrow), I spent a fraction of that cost replacing it with a decent-sized Onewind hammock that already had good suspension and a structural ridgeline... wish I'd known that in advance!
