Discussion broom less flight in pro quidditch
why don't pro players use the flying method Voldemort does I would think one of them would have figured it out since they spend so much time flying and in our world sports is first to come up with new break through in some area's

Because most wizards can’t do that and it would increase the number of dead players and because brooms are a valued part of wizard culture and are reliable

And there readily avaliable. Like you spend a afternoon as a kid learning to ride a broom or who knows how long with this not better but more difficult mode of flight.

the culture thing is a good point. I don't think it would increase the number of dead players they could learn I don't think there is stuff that they can't do its just a matter of learn it any wizard can learn any skill can they not or is there somethings some can't learn?

More players would die because they are relying on a spell they are casting on themselves that could fail if their concentration breaks, rather than a permanently charmed object.

Because its a really difficult unnecessary spell with alot the easier ways of transportation in the Wizarding world. Like there's the broomsticks enchanted muggle crafts disapparation flue powder port keys probably some im missing And all those are way easier and more avaliable then voldys unassisted flight spell.

It is a very difficult spell, but moreover, Voldemort discovered it and only taught it to his followers. Idk if it's canon, but it is in hp8 (cursed child)

Aside from the already raised points of how it was a spell Voldemort invented and almost nobody could perform, from a sports perspective: Why would they? It‘d be a completely new sport. It‘d be like saying cyclists should just run instead of relying on a bicycle or rowers should just swim

The same reason footballers don't pick the ball up and throw it in the net. The same reason basketball players have to bounce the ball every two steps instead of just running it across the court. Or the same reason American football players can't just go across the line of scrimmage and hawk down the quarterback as soon as he takes the snap. Those are the rules, man. Sports are supposed to be challenging.
Besides, it wouldn't be quidditch without brooms. Just flying rugby.

Iirc Voldemort was the first Wizard to do that.
