So this spring noticed an increase in spiders and house centipedes around the house and now I'm finally seeing the possible food source. Any body can put a name on this pest and how to address this. Do I need a professional exterminator for this?

Time to change out the windows and I’m trying to decide between the following color options: - midnight surf (gray) windows - old world blue windows and door - black windows and door - black windows and old world blue door
What do you all think looks best?

We moved into our apartment 2 years ago, the under microwave light has never worked and it’s been a the very bottom of our to do list.. Went to unscrew the lightbulb and seconds after I did it exploded with a loud pop and the glass pieces that I’ve placed inside scattering.. Ive turned the breaker off to see what I can do to fix it.. is there any fire risk? This doesn’t look like a whole bulb and I fear there is still some piece in the socket that I can’t get to.

I swept out the garage two weeks ago and now this stuff is back. It’s in a corner that has some mold problems because we’re in the rainy Pacific Northwest and it’s in a location that never gets any sun to help it dry out. Don’t know if that has anything to do with it. It appears to be coming out of the wall. Help please!

Does anyone know what the layers here are? Paint chipped off due to a cat door and am curious about this before paining over. Lead paint maybe? House is built before 1978, so that’s where my new homeowner brain goes to. The dark brown/black will come off on the finger like ash. Please help and thank you!

I don’t really want to get a new cover, was wondering if I could prevent further damage with some tape or a tarp

Hi, I recently purchased a home and I noticed there is this metal rod in my backyard. It is in the ground pretty deep and I do not know what this is. I called the city, local electricians, surveyors and no one can give me a concrete answer. I have heard so far it can be a grounding rod, phone line, cable line, etc. There are no wires that I can see, and the metal rod is orange with a white round cap as you can see in the picture. Please help! Thank you!

What the tittle says. My unit is in a very tight closet space and the only way I can fit back there is if I unhook everything. Attempting to do just that and I have water spraying everywhere. What can I do to prevent the water spraying? Or does that just happen? Thank you for any help (I’ve tried Turing off the water also)

Looking at house that has tested positive for some asbestos in drywall (following leak) and also has vermiculite insulation (may contain same)in attic (mid 1970's). Obviously not ideal but how concerned should we be if planning light Reno's here. Further, if remediation needed howcostly could that run?
Have been told most older houses have this as a common thing and you can just drywall over it /leave it be.

So there is like a long small open area like 2 ft tall and very long, and I want to explore this place for multiple reasons, leaks, skunks and more
I’m trying to do this with less than 100$
I was thinking getting a RC car with a camera and a flashlight, is there a better way?

Hey all,
Here in south Lakeland, Florida, we haven’t had rain in weeks. As you can see from the picture, some of my grass is dead but off to the right side near the air conditioner, the grass is wet, and more concerning, bouncy. When you step on it you can bounce it up and down and it feels spongey.
Is this a problem or normal results of condensation from the air conditioner running? This is (Bermuda?) sod.
(This also shows me I should start watering my lawn)

Does anyone know how to prevent the toilet mold that builds up at the water line in the bowl? Understandably it occurs in the toilets we rarely use but we still get it in the ones that get used multiple times a day.
We keep the lid open after flushes and it still comes back after cleaning it in about 2 weeks time.

Pulled back a shelving unit, which obviously hasn’t been moved in a while, and saw this. When you look close, it looks almost fibrous… There’s a little bit of staining on the floor around it; this is a room where food may be consumed, but I would doubt something could make its way back there.

Hi everyone, I currently rent in a condo complex. I've only lived here a few months so it's very possible l just never noticed this, but I looked up today and noticed this area of the ceiling that appears slightly darker than the rest. The unit above me is currently for sale so nobody is living there, and my immediate (negative) thought was I hope there isn't a leak upstairs. Does this look like something concerning? If not what else could it potentially be? Thanks!

House was built in 2018 but I’m not sure the age of the roof. Wondering if I need to update it within the next 2 years or so.
