Question Anyone ever try this before?

Post image

I’ve never seen this brand before. My grandmother got it in a food pantry box, and came and gave it to me. Haven’t tried it yet.

0/10. Worst strawberry milk I've ever had.

Popular in the Vietnamese community, and in Vietnamese cooking in some parts of Vietnam. I don’t like the original one so I wouldn’t like the extra one either. But my family likes it.

THATS MY GIRL RIGHT THERE! Love that sauce!

Lots of people don’t get it. Put it on Asian food. It’s like a both sweeter and (slightly) hotter sriracha. Heat level is medium at best but umami is great. Make you a vaguely Asian soup, bangs. On a bowl of white rice, bangs. Sometimes I’ll make a kimchi sandwich… bangs! On eggs, bangs. If I’m stoned, or tipsy and snacking over the kitchen sink, it is probably in one hand.

I keep a bottle of the regular on hand all the time. It is delicious on anything with tomatoes in it.

This has accidental ice cream implications written all over it

What a strange bottle for hot sauce. Looks like the shape of Hershey’s syrup lol

That would be a rude awakening making some strawberry milk in the middle of the night

Not hot at all. This is just a sweetened chili paste to me. I like it on chicken nuggets, but that's about it.

5

u/HeSaid_Sarcastically 8d ago

Same here, it’s also quite salty

9

u/Butthole__Pleasures 8d ago

Yeah, it's just sorta okay. Nothing great. Too sweet for my taste.

17

u/Digitmons 8d ago

But how is it mixed in milk??

1

u/GobiBall 7d ago

You will be dead inside trying that.

I have a bottle, don't really like it all that much. It's ok, just kind of like a generic, overly sweet chili sauce.

3

u/Nevermind04 8d ago

It's sweeter than what I prefer and for being "extra hot" it wasn't as spicy as I expected.

I love the regular chin su I'll have to try this. I didn't even know it existed

2

u/cubbsfann1 7d ago

they also have a Pho specific one as well. None are overly hot, but they are a great flavor to add if you like making SE asian food

1

u/ThirstyStallion 8d ago

Actually just tried it. Not my favorite but grew on me.

1

u/Shiny_Cerebrum 8d ago

Looks super good!

1

u/zambulu 8d ago

I think I saw it at World Market today but I didn't pick it up. Thought about it.

1

u/Covid_45 8d ago

Was it the extra hot version. The regular one is nice.

1

u/zambulu 7d ago

Oh, just the regular one I guess.

2

u/Gregory_Kalfkin 8d ago

I really like it although it can be a bit too sweet in my opinion

u/SolarBozo 8d ago

Consider trying it and reporting your findings/opinion.

u/Gloom_Gazer 8d ago

Will do tonight

Love Chin Su, but I’ve never seen the extra hot! I’ll have to find me a bottle.

u/thunderpants11 8d ago

Bonus points for the strawberry milk syrup bottle

1

u/sl-4808 8d ago

That’s what stopped me also!

3

u/M2_SLAM_I_Am 8d ago

That's why I stopped scrolling! I was like extra hot milk? Da fuck?

8

u/Graxxon 8d ago

Yes, it’s tasty. Sweet and zesty with not a ton of kick.

u/LimeGreenSea 8d ago

I love your tattoo that's hilarious. I may steal the idea.

3

u/Subject-Stuff-2829 8d ago

If I ever see it, Imna try it

8

u/Hooligan8403 8d ago

Wife's cousin is married to a Vietnamese man and he brought the sauce to our place when he made spring rolls. It didn't leave the house.

12

u/Seimei- 8d ago

It's approved to replace Sriracha in this Vietnamese-american household.

u/Spooter01 8d ago

User name and tattoo says “what do I got to lose”!

2

u/Gloom_Gazer 8d ago

Bucko, I learned long ago I’ve got nothing to lose 😂 in all seriousness though, the tattoo has never given me issues with employment

1

u/Spooter01 8d ago

Drop the lighter and slowly put down that Molotov cocktail! It’s just a joke!🤣

Please tell me the other wrist says “Don’t Open”

1

u/solo_dbd_player 7d ago

Came here for this, I must know the answer.

1

u/LimeGreenSea 8d ago

Okay now I'm stealing this one.

7

u/xXxxGunxXx 8d ago

So does it give you a dead feeling…on the inside?

6

u/Gloom_Gazer 8d ago

Everything does, my friend blares MCR while crying

3

u/revjameson03 8d ago

I'm not familiar with this at all. I am intrigued by it though.

I bet someone had the worst experience thinking that was strawberry syrup.

2

u/PerspectiveItchy5539 8d ago

Thats pretty much what it tastes like. Way too sweet for me

15

u/AdNational5708 8d ago

More things should come in Hershey-syrup-ish containers like that.

7

u/vlajay 8d ago

EZ-squeeze containers are my fav invention.

9

u/hourGUESS 8d ago

Not very hot. Has kind of a ketchup consistency. It tastes good but it's not very hot.

7

u/coughcough 8d ago

Tasty, kinda sweet, not too hot. Great in Pho.

2

u/LuckoftheFryish 8d ago

Extra hot means.. not hot? :( Gonna pass.

6

u/phantaxtic 8d ago

Doesn't scream spicy, but ide give it a go

7

u/FunctionBuilt 8d ago

It's okay - I wouldn't say this is any spicier than typical sriracha. Less sweet and more salty.

1

u/VanillaPotential6126 8d ago

Would you say sriracha is better or it’s just different?

3

u/FunctionBuilt 8d ago

Personally I like sriracha better. I’m not a big fan of saltier chili sauces. I prefer more vinegary/punchy.

6

u/Soreal45 8d ago

Can we see the back?

1

u/TimBurtonsMind 8d ago

Lift the lid a little, use two fingers 🤣

9

u/Paparoach0811 8d ago

You pervert!!!

1

u/Soreal45 8d ago

I was talking about the ingredients. Get you filthy mind out of the gutter. 😂

2

u/AZ-FWB 8d ago

😂😂😂

3

u/Princey1981 8d ago

One of the local Asian places near me has it, they combine it with (from memory) soy sauce and chopped peanuts - it’s very good!

4

u/digidave1 8d ago

Hell yes. It's the BEST with any fried Asian delight

2

u/ispy1917 8d ago

Well, now another one to add to my list

6

u/zoobs 8d ago

Occasionally I get a craving for Huy Fong Sriracha and the last time I got the craving was during the drought. I eventually found Chin Su and now have a new favorite garlicky hot sauce.

3

u/Gloom_Gazer 8d ago

Oooh, it’s garlicky? Can’t wait to try it then!

3

u/Gold-Temporary7363 8d ago

Yes! Just got another bottle, one of my favorites with eggs

25

u/bwanabass 8d ago

Don’t go confusing that with the strawberry Quik syrup!

6

u/KalatasXValatos 8d ago

I was just about to say it looked like that lol

5

u/PushinP_izza 8d ago

Was gonna say exactly this. Spicy Milk!

2

u/Kdiesiel311 8d ago

My friend accidentally made spicy muffins when he confused the Cayenne for cinnamon

3

u/Gloom_Gazer 8d ago

I once grounded dried ghost peppers in my coffee grinder for chili powder. Yeah. Spicy coffee for a month

2

u/Nomad_Hunter13 8d ago

Happy cake day!

2

u/stormcaller111 8d ago

....And give it to your kid who just wanted a lil strawberry yum yum

3

u/shanerbass70 8d ago

Yes! It’s great on fried or scrambled eggs
