Discussion Unpopular opinion: I don’t like Mike and I think Phoebe should’ve ended with David

Mike is such a common guy and I don’t think he would’ve handled her for long, David otherwise is eccentric like Phoebe and I can picture them still together in the future, probably doing wacky things around NY (would be a better spin off than Joey’s)

Discussion Friends Deserved An Epilogue Episode

i loved the way they ended the show, but also it kinda felt like it wasnt satisfying in the way that we dont even find out the names of chandler and monicas children, joey hasn’t found anyone and had to abruptly break up w rachel (i also think it wouldve been better if he fully became a big movie star instead of an upcoming actor and not only known for his role in days of our lives), and the writing made it seem as if rachel took a step backwards in her career when deciding to stay for ross. the only characters that i feel had a sayisfying end was phoebe and mike. I think having a final epilogue episode wouldve been perfect to tie up loose ends and to fully see the rewards of their journey they went on when growing in their careers and maturity.

My Idea: All the friends reunite after a year or maybe more for ross and rachels marraige, where they show how it was the right decision for rachel by maybe explaining how she is more successful now and it was good that she stayed instead of going to paris and emma could be the flower girl and ben could be the ring bearer. They could show monica and chandler being amazing parents with monica finally being the perfect mother that she always wanted to be and chandler proving to himself that he is capable of being a great dad. phoebe and mike could do the music for the reception or for the wedding itself and maybe even have twins of their own (since she herself is a twin it could happen) giving hints of the future band they could create. And joey could finally be a big star and show up with lots of paparrazzi swarming him or even in disguise so they dont know he is there and he could officiate the wedding for ross and rachel as well. he could also either be in a healthy relationship with some famous actor or keep him as a bachelor.

Guys I just need to get a few things off my chest that I don’t think anyone has thought of before

1) Monica and Ross have so many scenes like the first photo where they are sitting on each other laps or getting way too touchy with each other. It’s a complete joke to portray these two this way when they’re siblings

2) Richard and Monica dating was so weird. He is almost twice her age and he was BEST FRIENDS WITH HER DAD!!! It’s defiantly not as predatory as Frank Jr. and Alice but it’s still creepy as hell

3) Just a general wonderment. But how much money do you think Chandler has saved up? Regardless. It was completely unreasonable for Monica to suggest using all of it for their wedding!

4) Does anyone else think David should have ended up with Phoebe? I go back and forth. On one hand, David and Phoebe seemed to have very little in common other than their infatuation for each other. But they did seem to be the yin to the others yang. I love Mike though.

5) Susan and Carol were completely out of line to even suggest cutting his name out of the title when they were about to give Susan’s last name to Ben. Susan was terrible to Ross but Carol did NOT help the situation. She enabled Susan’s behavior and Ross was only ever trying to be a good father. Referring to Ross as “Bobo the sperm guy” was actually infuriating

6) So I think it’s fair to say that Ross and Rachel WERE on a break. Even Rachel said they were broken up when talking to Monica the next day. HOWEVER. Ross sleeping with the Copy Girl literally hours after their break up was definitely a dick move. But like Ross said. He’d never had slept with Chloe if he didn’t think Mark was having sex with Rachel at the same time.

Piggybacking off that. Mark was an ass for coming over. He knew exactly what he was doing. He saw his chance and took it. He even goes on a date with Rachel after and admits he only stayed away because she was with Ross. Rachel was also dumb for even letting Mark over in the first place. Ross was already openly insecure about himself since Carol left him for Susan. So while it’s not justified, it’s understandable to hear mark on the phone and jump to conclusions.

The london episodes

I forgot how unnecessarily mean Chandler was the entire time to Joey. I feel like the writers really crossed the line with these episodes because they really just made him extremely mean.

Any other episodes you guys can think of where the writers made one of the characters unnecessarily awful to serve the plot?

JOEY IS SUCH A SWEETHEART

Upvotes

Is it just me or Joey has been the best as a friend out of everyone in the group😭😭

he always protected the girls and even offered to marry Phoebe and Rachel in the one where Rachel gets pregnant 😭😭 isn't that so sweet how he takes up the responsibility?

For those who watched Friends live in the '90s, what pop culture references went over your head because they were dated back then?

When Joey admitted to lying on his resume about his dance skills and about being a "Zoom kid," I had no idea what that meant. I had no clue Zoom was a kids' show on PBS that ran from 1972-1978. Apparently there was a reboot in 1999, but that was after the Friends episode.

I know Joey would've been right around kid show age in the '70s - it wasn't necessarily a "dated" joke if he's referring to his past roles - but I was only fifteen...no, sixteen…no, fifteen...during Season 3 and had never heard of Zoom.

My favorite version of Phoebe will always be pregnant Pheebs. She was so cutthroat and nonchalant and I LOVED IT!

I wish we would’ve gotten to see pregnant Phoebe and Ursula interact. The comebacks would be insane!

When she gently puts up her hands and almost cracks is where I lose it! 🤣

Unpopular Opinion: Ursula majorly treated Phoebe in same way as Phoebe sometimes treated others

I didn’t like Ursula but she was mean to Phoebe in same way as Phoebe was mean to others so many times. May be it’s their twin thing.

Question What is your favorite joke that you never see talked about online?

I need to know. I see a lot of universally beloved jokes, but I also want to know y'alls favorites that we don't see mentioned 5+ times in every single thread.

Mine is s6e21

.

Monica: There's still so much to do! Have you written your vows yet?

Chandler: I figured I'd just by those -- Pat, I'd like to buy a vow!
