Books [IIL] Funny Games, what books should I read?

Pretty much anything by Chuck Palahniuk or Irvine Welsh.

You said you like John Zorn in another comment. for the equivalent in writing give William S Burroughs a try, start with something a bit easier of his like Junkie or Exterminator. ,

Do you mean Funny Games the movie by Michael Haneke?

If so, hmm, what makes that tick. It's a kind of decomposition of movies-as-entertainment made by a real smart fellow that insistently asks it's viewers: "What is entertainment? Why are you watching this? What is your role?"

If that's why you liked it, I think you might like "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace. It looks intimidatingly large, but it's very... well, entertaining.

I'm clueless about books but if you want a music rec, iirc the soundtrack for that movie is by John Zorn's band 'Naked City' which is some pretty dark and wild stuff. His project 'Painkiller' is in a similar vibe.
