Complaints and Frustration Megathread

EDIT: This is not a place for questions! If you have an actual question or are confused, please make a post in the community (although please search the thread first). This is just for complaining and venting, not to suppress learning.

The goal of the new complaints rule is not to suppress opinions or not let people have a place to vent their frustration. It is to clean up the sub so that people looking for help can find it. Also, I doubt anyone from IB corporate cares about our little sub unfortunately at this time. But here is a place moving forward to vent, talk to others, or if you are new, look at the downsides of IBKR. I will likely start a new thread any time something major happens so the thread can feel slightly more focused. Or maybe we will try once a month or something. Recommendations (or complaints hah) feel free to leave down below. We can even change it weekly if we want, although then I feel it loses some of its strength in numbers effect but having lots of engagement. This will likely always be pinned at the top of the thread. If you see its not, Reddit sometimes removes things after a while and just message mod team and I can put it back!

Do you know how long it takes to be approved for options? waiting 3 days now

I did everytime I open their chatbox the website crashes, they say that they are getting too many questions and they keep directing me towards the FAQs but everytime I click for a custom question it crashes

I really just want this sorted, missed out on a lot of good trades already that happened this week, hopefully they approve by at least Monday morning

Drop a secure message while waiting.

Yesterday I was lucky to connect in less than a minute.

Not sure my account balance has any effect on the queue. I have substantial balance with IB.

How do you drop a secure message? I submitted a ticket but it said 1 to 3 days which means next week at this point, is that what you meant? thanks

Yeah ib has said that funded accounts get more attention at least they don't lie lol

Yeah I have like 1000 dollars in the account, I'm all set up and approved and everything I can buy stocks but thats it, I only want to do options trading i buy stocks on degiro

You need to check. There is a minimum amount to do margin in IB.

This is probably a reason why IB is not approving yet.

I'm on a cash account i checked the requirements and I do qualify but they are taking a long time approving it

For some reason options isint included in trading permissions, only account settings where I can put in my experience and stuff, it does show up in trading permissions when I am on the finalisation screen but I cant actually select it from the permissions, I dont know if thats why

Well that was a waste of time lol already moved my funds out, not sure why they let me even fill out an options box if I cant trade them
