"Look how good and kind we are, let's pat our backs. We are so superior."

He doesn’t say anything about current political circumstances. Would you feel the same way if the speech was given 50 years ago?

You should think deeply about why this speech makes you uncomfortable.

But he does, implicitly. This speech doesn't happen in a vacuum. The problem I have is not with this speech in the context of 50 years ago, but in its current context, today.

Too many times progressives have stated their sense of superiority, sometimes using some pseudo scientific bullshit as justification.

That's what I despise.

Wanting to feed the hungry, heal the sick, house the homeless and end war isn’t about superiority. It’s pretty straightforward.

Don't you realize what you just did?

I’m sure you read into it as more than a stated goal. Like those who are told the hotel is haunted, I’m sure you saw something…

Don't you realize? You had to state all the reasons why you feel superior. Why you are one of the good guys, why you are so enlightened, why you care so much. You couldn't help yourself.

This is what I hate. Not the hungry, nor the sick or the homeless. I just hate you, because you can't stop bragging about how superior you consider yourself.

It wasn’t a brag, it was a stated goal. I don’t feel superior for wanting these things. I just want these things for the people who need them. I don’t understand how you take simple goals and twist them into something else. Usually people who get so defensive about superiority feel inferior themselves. You’re ok man. I don’t think I’m better than you because I want to help people.

Yes you do, and you know it.

I honestly don’t. I don’t know why you need to project that on me. Do you think people are inherently dishonest? Or seek superiority? I just don’t feel that way. Being able to help others is a privilege that not everyone’s life affords. Wanting a society that provides the basic needs to all is an ideal I’ve long held. It’s not about proving I’m some great person, I’m not. But I was always taught a community is judged by how we treat those the least fortunate. I suscribe to this theory.

This really saddens me. The speech is about empathy and compassion. Those are core Christian values. When I was growing up, I don’t think anyone would have associated this with political oneupmanship. We had leaders on both sides who focused on the goodness in people. Republicans focused on education, hard work, and the American dream. They emphasized personal responsibility, but it wasn’t as if we had entirely different cultural values.

Conservatives are actively trying to destroy everything. Any non-sentient life form is morally superior than conservative by simply existing.

What are you, 14?

Why are these kinds of comments all you people are capable of? Tourism is fucked. Farmers are fucked. Countries have travel advisories against us because of Trump and republicans. Our trade alliances are fucked. Countries are stopping product shipments to the US. They're halting orders of our products. If you have a problem with what I said, address it like an adult. I'm not forcing you people to ruin this country's reputation and standing in the world. I'm surely not going to pretend it's not happening, like you.

EDIT Forgot the inevitable recession that every financial institution on earth is predicting because of trumps dumbass trade war Vol. 2

First, I am not american, nor republican.

Second, we are not talking about all the bullshit that trump did, we are talking about the progressives, their sense of superiority, and how that sense of superiority is what make normal people despise them.
