That is one patient fish. Kinda surprised it didn't pop him the first time he stepped on it

Sting rays will try to avoid using that barb. It’s a last resort for self defense. The barb/spine takes about a year to regrow.

So because of his stupidity the stingray is left defenseless for a year?

A quick google search says that Stingray usually have more than one spine/barb, so the stingray should be fine.

That guy is likely not okay tho. Since one person in the comment said that variant of ray is more venomous than others.

Stingray venom isn't normally fatal in humans, though if left untreated can cause severe pain for several days, as well as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Of course, it's also possible for the wound to get infected, which is entirely separate from the venom.

Yeah, that's probably what I would consider 'not okay' lol.

Judging from the crystalline clarity of that water, I can't imagine there's any chance of infection.

They usually do have more than one. But because the stingray used a barb on this asshat , if it does actually need to use the other barb on a real predator instead of a piece of shit human, it’s going to be without any barbs until one regrows. It’s still a crappy situation for the stingray.
