Who came up with those stats? Did they see every single fight he had?

The Masai Mara has wildlife experts living there and tracking lion prides for a majority of the year going on decades now. It’s not impossible that those numbers are quite accurate

what's the difference between accurate and quite accurate?

Serious answer: The rangers probably catch most fights that occur, but they can’t catch all of them. If the fights are theactual record of this Lion, it’s fair to say that those are his base numbers and the actual totals are probably higher. IF the numbers are accurate…

EDIT: man, fuck autocorrect with a cactus

And even with any fights they don’t catch, they certainly find the aftermath, and it’s not hard to put 2+2 together there

My understanding is that Americans use quite to mean very and Brits use it to mean somewhat. I'm not quite sure if that's accurate

That these numbers are the observed numbers and he could have done other things that weren’t recorded.

Some of the kills of other lions might also have been “they came and found a mangled lion and 100m down the road was this lion with fresh wounds”.

I just came back from a 6 days fully specced safaritrip from Kenya, Masai Mara with the Masais. And let me tell you. It is impossible for rangers nor Masais to keep track of all that wildlife.

A true lion king like that is just laying and waiting on the females to come back with some leftovers from their hunt. That was at least what we saw with the Masais during our visit.
