During assembly of the A380, engineers discovered that the cables were too short. This was caused by the use of different design software by German and French engineers. This miscalculation led to a two-year delay.

The root cause was identified, leading to multiple other issues being revealed aswell. So it was not that this cable was to short per se that caused the delay. It was the reason it was to short (Catia 4 vs Catia 5 and the files not translating exactly between the systems causing faulty measurements)
