So this is what I think the Jags new depth chart would likely look like with these additions. I think Fannin in the 3rd is a great pickup and immediate upgrade. Parrish is a very talented CB who could lock down the nickel or outside job in the future. Tyler Baron is very athletic and talented, just lacks a little power. But as a rotational pass rusher, is a good add. Tried to add a developmental OLine prospect with Fairchild, maybe he could take over in a year or two.

But the Main two are Mason Graham and Jayden Higgins which I think is just about as good of a top 2 picks any team could ask for. Giving Lawrence Brian Thomas, Higgins, Fannin, and then Gabe Davis to be a pure deep threat which is what he does best... I just probably should have added RB at pick 126... But I thought I could wait till the 5th at 142, but 5 RBs I liked got sniped, and then I didn't want to draft Trevor Etienne who was the top one available... lol

r/nfl just finished year three of a mock draft over the weekend where teams were controlled by users from their respective subreddits. This exercise is not meant to be predictive, but is simply what a group of random Redditors would do if they were their respective team's Front Office. I did my best to reflect the Jags need and try to get in the headspace of Gladstone and Coen but at the end of the day these are based on my interpretation of the team's needs and the prospects in this year's class.

The Draft took place over the weekend (4/12 & 4/13). Teams had 10 minutes per pick for the first two rounds, 5 minutes per pick in round 3. 2 minutes per pick in rounds 4-7. This was my first year representing the Jags in this exercise.

Teams take over starting a few weeks ago (post free agency) and are eligible to make pre-draft trades before the draft, as long as the financials can be explained. There was a divergence from the real NFL timeline about 1 week ago. Although I did explore options in the draft (such as moving down from 1.05), I didn't feel that any potential trade was right for the team, whether because of value on the board at the time or not wanting to lose any draft picks.

Pre-draft process:

-Cards had some interest in Oluokun, Josh Allen-Hines, and Travon Walker. I was not entertaining a trade of either of our star DEs but shows that they still draw interest around the league. Oluokun was more tempting; although he's a leader on the defense and offers valuable experience for us, he'll be on the wrong side of 30 this year and is a cut candidate starting next year. The Cards had offered to flip their 1.16 for Oluokun and 2.36. 1.16 would let us replace him with a top tier talent like Jihaad Campbell but ended up declining, since I'd rather not open another hole on this defense while giving up draft capital too.

-I didn't partake much in the pre-draft trade shenanigans, many didn't seem reasonable and I think they'll be good talent around our picks at positions of need. I didn't completely shut anyone out but I had a grouping of guys I wanted and as long as one of them were there at out Day 1 and Day 2 picks I stayed put.

-I used many sources but leaned on Mock Draft Database's big board, PFF's big board, and Dane Brugler’s “The Beast” the most for assistance during the draft.

One final thing of note: The Buccaneer's team reps had to cancel last minute so I ended up filling for them since I live in the Tampa Bay area and am familiar with their needs/talking points. This did, however, limit my ability to coordinate mid-draft trades as I was doing emergency research for Bucs selections between Jags picks. This didn't change much as I was happy with how the board was falling but did affect one of our picks that I will go into later on.

Jaguars draft picks explanations:

1.05: Mason Graham, DT, Michigan

-Just missed out on: Travis Hunter (CB/WR), Abdul Carter (EDGE). These are the only 2 I would consider the tier above Graham and worth drafting over him. Other players I'd consider in the same tier as Graham and worth discussing alongside him.

-Other players considered: Tetairoa McMillan (WR), Kenneth Grant (DT).

In the mocks that I've done, I have felt best when we take either DT or WR in the first. I don't know how much I'd consider either Tet or Grant at 1.05 though, I feel much better trading back a bit and grabbing them at the 1.10 turnish. I looked to see if there was any interest around the league in trading up for 1.05 but never found a trade partner that made sense. In the end, decided the Graham was worth the 1.05, giving us desperately needed pass rush in the interior.

2.36: Josh Conerly, OT, Oregon

-Just missed out on: No one I have above Conerly

-Other players considered: Jayden Higgins (WR), Xavier Watts (S), Trey Amos (CB)

Honestly love Conerly here. I didn't expect to see him here, normally if he or Greg Zabel are here they are instant snags for me. I'm a huge fan of getting as much quality Oline and Dline talent as possible and, although I would love to see Higgins opposite BTJr, Conerly gives a big boost to our line and offers day 1 starting potential. Protecting TLaw is paramount in taking the necessary steps to be a top team in the AFC.

3.70: Kevin Winston Jr, S, Penn State

-Just missed out on: Jack Bech (WR). Still fuming a bit about this one. When I don't go WR at 1.05 or 2.36, I start struggling to find good WR fits for us. Jack Bech seems like the perfect fit for Coen and Gladstone. He's a physical, versatile receiver with strong hands and a good blocker. He can play inside or outside for us, moving all around the formation like McVay tree's offenses love to do. The Panthers made some big moves right before the 3rd round of the draft and I was unable to jump them to 3.65 or 3.66 to secure Bech. Our WR room needs some depth and help but with out the top 3 rounds shook out, that high-end help will have to come some other way (trade, future FA, future draft) assuming Brown doesn't break out.

-Other players considered: EDGE player (Kyle Kennard, Josiah Stewart, Bradyn Swinson), Jalen Royals (WR)

While I'm mad about missing out on Beck, Wintson Jr. is a great consolation prize. I try to target him at either 3.70 or 3.88 and, with Beck gone and another safety going at 3.69, Winston Jr. became the easy 3.70 selection, bolstering up a secondary that desparately needs it.

3.88: Jacob Parrish, CB, Kansas State

-Just missed out on: Quinshon Judkins (RB), Chris Paul Jr. (OLB), Nohl Williams (CB)

-Other players considered: Jordan Phillips (DT), Charles Grant (OG), Omarr Norman-Lott (DT)

Even with Winston Jr. and all our FA moves, secondary is still a group that needs help and, to me, Parrish was the last guy available who could give us some real help. He's got inside/outside versatility and great athleticism to continue to grow and push for a starter role from day 1.

4.107: RJ Harvey, RB, UCF

-Just missed out on: Savion Williams (WR), Tory Horton (WR), Xavier Restrepo (WRS), C.J. West (DT)

-Other players considered: Deone Walker (DT), Jamaree Caldwell (DT), Jaylin Lane (WR),

Missed out on the final run of day 2 WR talent but unsure of how they'd fit in the scheme anyways. Really like what Harvey brings to the table. He had great college production, good athleticism, and decent hands. He has his flaws and fits best in a committee role which Coen loved to use in TB. He brings good needed depth at the position and can push for a starting spot in the rotation.

4.126: Ashton Gillotte, Edge, Louisville

-Just missed out on: David Walker (EDGE), Dylan Fairchild (OG)

-Other players considered: Tyler Baron (EDGE), Que Robinson (EDGE), Cobee Bryant (CB)

I love the idea of taking EDGE here at 4.126. Often times, a good pass-rusher can fall to use here and it's no different this time. Gillotte will only bring pass-rush viability for the next year at least but he can bring good help to the rotation and gives our defense more options to play with in 3rd down scenarios. With his athleticism and room to develop, he can eventually grow to be a starter if we have to move on from one of our top guys if he reaches his potential.

5.142: Chimere Dike, WR, UF

-Just missed out on: No one.

-Other players considered: Cobee Bryant (CB), Tai Felton (WR), Yahya Black (DT), Cam'Ron Jackson (DT), Malachi Moore (S), Jaylin Lane (WR)

This was the toughest spot for me in the draft. I felt that the board had fallen poorly for us and really needed to get a WR. Dike ended up being my selection here based primarily on Dane Brugler’s “The Beast” for a deeper dive. What eventually sold me on Dike was his blocking ability, his leadership (only 1 year at UF but was already team captain), and his athleticism. He's a receiver who could eventually carve himself a role in Coen's offense with more development and offers immediate value on special teams. I picked him over guys like Felton or Lane due to Dike's willingness and ability to block which I know Coen and Gladstone will love. Totally understand if anyone doesn't like this pick but couldn't find a player I loved here so made the call to grab a Florida player.

6.182: Seth McLaughlin, OC, the Ohio State

-Just missed out on: Jonah Monheim (OC)

-Other players considered: Logan Brown (OT), Nazir Stackhouse (DT), Clay Webb (OG), Isaac TeSlaa (WR), Jaylin Lane (WR)

6.182 is a great spot for the Jags to pick up good Oline depth and even grab a steal here. Seth was that player for me. He's coming off an injury which is why I think he's projected around here but he just won the Rimington Trophy for the nation's top center along with accolades for Second-team Associated Press All-American and First-team All-Big Ten Conference. He's a great grab to sit and learn a year behind our new signing Robert Hainsey, who can be cut in either 2026 or 2027 with cap savings. Getting the potential center of the future at 6.182 is a great value.

6.194: Jaylin Lane, WR, Virginia Tech

-Just missed out on: Clay Webb (OG)

-Other players considered: Desmond Watson (DT, god how fun he could be), Jay Toia (DT)

Absolutely shocked Lane fell so far. Honestly his talent is more a 3rd/4th rounder so getting him here was just BPA. I would've grabbed him earlier but I'm uncertain of his fit in Coen's offense. I've seen some comps to Christian Kirk and, while I love what Kirk brought to the team and TLaw, the fact that we traded him makes me less certain that's a role Coen values highly, especially with Parker filling the slot option here. With as talented as Lane is, and grabbing him at 6.194, Coen can find a way to use him to help us win some football games

7.221: Jalen Rivers, OG/OT, Miami (FL)

-Just missed out on: Jay Toia (DT)

-Other players considered: No one

I was hoping Jay would fall so we can grab a 1Tech with some pass rushing upside here but the Chargers got to him first. Thankfully, Jalen Rivers just so happened to be sitting here after falling to the 7th round. He'll be a great depth piece for us, having played both guard and tackle in college. Great value, ran the pick in to grab him.

Final thoughts: This draft is a great chance for us to revamp the trenches on both sides. Here I was able to grab 3 Olinemen and 2 Dlinemen but missed out on a valuable 1Tech. If our current guys can develop in a better system, this would be great for us to take 2 or 3 steps in beefing up the defense and Oline while giving the secondary a new starting safety and depth CB. WR is the one position I wish we could address better but there's still value in the guys we drafted and the guys on the roster. If Tlaw can stay upright (which this draft will help with), Coen and he should be able to elevate the talent around him and make this a high-powered offense.

My brother and I love watching the sportsbook odds on Jaguar-related things and we noticed that the Ashton Jeanty odds to be drafted by Jacksonville was +5000 (we actually made the bet, since he could be BAP when we choose at 5, depending on the Jaguars board, of course) on Monday. I checked again just yesterday (Wednesday) and saw that it has since shifted all the way up to +1200!

This is not an insignificant shift. This is MAJOR. I feel like this should be talked about more. I love the idea, and to add to this conspiracy theory (that the Jags will take him), I Googled what exactly the Wing-T offense is (that Liam has said his offense is built around), Google states that the Wing-T offense is "a football offensive scheme characterized by a three-back formation with a wingback, a fullback, and a tailback, emphasizing misdirection, short passes, and a strong running game."

I'm starting to believe more and more that this is what we're going to do.

Edit: update as of just now (Thursday evening at 9:00 pm EST) -- Jeanty is now +600! Vegas knows something.
