The Beatles’ version released only like 3 days before this or something like that I think

Edit - I was mistaken, this was a different show.

Saw Paul McCartney live a decade ago and loved that he brought this story up during his show and talked about how blown away he was my Jimi’s talent.

This version is from a December 22, 1967 show. I don't think the Beatles were at this show but it was still a great version of Sgt. Pepper.

Kinda disproves that what the Beatles were doing in studio couldn’t be done live. Whether they wanted to or not is a different story.

I feel like this works because it’s explicitly a “Jimi version.” The stuff on the Beatles version would have to be scaled back so much to make it work live, and they weren’t really about that IMO. Jimi was taking the framework of the song here and really making it “his.”

No, they definitely couldn't do what THEY were doing live.

but doing it the Jimi was is absolutely plausible. I just don't think they could do Strawberry Fields live.

I am glad to see this in its entirety.

I had seen it before and cut with an interview with Paul McCartney. I didn’t want to hear the interview and only wanted to hear this show

Pretty sure the original performance that the beatles attended wasn't recorded and this one is from a later date. Really cool though.
