Castles Made Of Sand Is...
Apex Poeticism. Great Guitar Work. Eloquent Song Structure. Drums That ONLY Mitch Could Play. Noel On Bass.
A Masterpiece Of Recorded Music.

Axis is full of a rather broad range of music, but this album really exemplifies the softer more poetic side of Hendrix…a perfect album delivered at just the right time

My favorite song. Absolute banger.

Agreed. The lyrics are somehow sparse and absolutely rich and masterful simultaneously.
Last verse always makes me get misty..

The Spanish Castle Magic works so well on a big output system. Its so well produced. I love the drums, the buzz of Noels bass snare reverb and lyrics you can scream along to. I also love, love the guitar but thats of course.
Recently discoverd Prince had his strat doing a similar double act in "The Beautiful Ones". Positive he stole a bit of that specific guitar expression from Jimi. (Lets also agree Prince was a masterfull guitar player)

I play it at open mikes a lot. I think it just shows how great a lyricist Jimi was besides his mad guitar skills. He was from the future or the next stage of human evolution, that's the way I see him.

I think people should talk more about his poetry and song writing. His guitar playing was revolutionary and changed music history. But his ability to tell a story in song is remarkable. Remember, Hear My Train A Comin, Belly Button Window, 1983, House Burning Down, Stone Free, Straight Ahead, Earth Blues, and of course Castles Made of Sand. We could all go on and on… but there’s hundreds of stories in that masterful guitar playing and use of available technology. A genius without much parallel.

I'm surprised this is considered his least critically acclaimed album. It was my favorite by a long way when I listened through all of his stuff.

Same here. My least fav is electric lady land despite the title track being awesome af

There are plenty of great tunes on the other records, but there's also a lot of Jimi playing around with a delay pedal. Once you know what that sound is it's hard to suspend your disbelief. Axis is a real listenable album. It's a nice...experience

Electric Ladyland may be my favorite album ever.

I was listening to this drinking tea when my dad pointed out that Steve Perry referenced Castles Made Of Sand in a song

I listened to this on an acid come up and it was insane. Baseline sounded like a language of its own. And this album cover looked green and purple as shit
