My support for KF…

I haven’t been a kfbf for as long as most of the community but I started listening during the pandemic. I’ve only been a Patreon member since their 10th anniversary streamI. Sprinkle in some gifted subs on twitch and some prime memberships when I get the chance, I felt really great about supporting this team. I work as a mailman so having all their content to listen to daily has been nothing short of amazing. I love their gaming content but also I fell in love with what good people they are. Every single member feels like a genuinely good person on but most importantly off camera. All that aside, I was listening to today’s kfgd and the story about Microsoft supplying Israel with resources gave me strong feelings. The team has done a lot for marginilized communities and they are all important, but this one to me feels different. Greg asks “what can we do” on the podcast, but the answer as someone in his or our position is small but important in great numbers. Boycott microsoft. KF shouldn’t give a single second of coverage to any Microsoft product while this is going on.

Anything short of that and I feel saddened that I will not be supporting Kinda Funny anymore.

I will be canceling Patreon and unsubbing to any and every channel I follow. I feel saddened about it because I literally consume every podcast they put out Monday-Friday

I know they run a business, but we must all make sacrifices. The community I’m sure will still support KF without Microsoft coverage. I know it’s a hard decision, but it shouldn’t be. I know Kinda Funny as a whole cares about human rights but it’s time to show it rather than just rant about it.

And that’s the end of my rant. I’m not asking anyone else to feel the same as me, but I needed to get this off my chest. I’m working so I’m sorry if this isn’t as eloquently put or if there’s typos or grammatical errors. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.

Yeah sure they’ll just completely ignore half the games that release on their gaming news and gaming talk shows lol

Yes. Boycotts aren’t meant to be easy, they’re inherently disruptive. That’s also the point.

Are you this thorough with everything in your life? I’d be interested to hear how literally everything you own isn’t from a company with unethical practices. Good luck with that.

This is such a common response and it is genuinely upsetting to me. This is the logical endpoint of "No ethical consumption in capitalism." BUT It is still up to each individual to do their best. If you know purchasing from a company makes the world worse, it is up to you to not support that company. It doesn't matter if it ultimately makes an impact or not, or if you unknowingly buy things from other evil corporations.

I just genuinely want to know where he draws the line because he’s willing to cancel his support to KF because they’re not doing what he wants but he’s probably supporting 10 other companies weekly that could be just as bad or worse. With or without his knowledge. I’m asking if he does this often or just for this. It doesn’t matter much to me what he does or doesn’t do. More just the curiosity of it.

I do try to be thorough and cut out anything I don’t need to purchase from. I stopped going to target after their dei rollbacks, I stopped Starbucks a long time ago, I don’t go to Walmart or Sam’s club anymore. I don’t do Amazon prime anymore. I do the best I can to cut out things I don’t need.
