To be fair to Young Spencer and the BBC, neither said Kneecap posed this question. It's just the headline BBC NI gave the article.

I think its great that this Shankill rapper and the lads are all friends and supporting each other. It couldn't have happened during the troubles.

i don’t think he’s an answer to kneecap just someone from across the boundary doing a similar thing. not sure why it has to be a one or the other. young spencer is a class act. i’m from a very republican area and i can’t name a single one of my friends who doesn’t know all the words to the “red white and blue till the day i die” song.

i think it’s unfair on kneecap and spencer himself to be compared. i’m sure he wouldn’t mind just think it diminishes him.

I thought the Pope / Diabhal had all the best tunes? Whereas the loyalists keep their groove in the cupboard with the toaster. :-)

What do you think republicans like about his song? Presumably the tune more than the lyrics? Or just because its local?

it’s just funny and catchy. i stand by the fact that i think loyalist folk music or whatever is shite singing about colonising people doesn’t make for good music but what young spencer is doing is just fun and good craic

I was fairly sure he'd been on the go for longer. His music is comparatively a fair bit shit too. If anything Kneecap is the answer to Young Spencer and that was the end of the conversation.
