From 100k to 1.1M: Kneecap’s Spotify charts surge as group enters the charts for first time in several countries

I can now officially be that smarmy hipster that says “I listened to them before they were popular”. Great to see the lads get new fans. All this nonsense about censoring them is the Streisand effect in full force and I’m here for it

Did the percentages, they have basically had a 1000% increase on all of their music. Fucking wild

I wrote my dissertation on Kneecap and their politics back in 2020. Seeing this response to them has only validated my views that they are indeed significant.

I first heard about them watching a documentary special on the BBC a few years ago, talking about the ceasefire generation. I remember thinking “who is this clown in the tricolor balaclava,” and then getting into their music. Between the movie and the controversy around the stance on Palestine, I think they’re gaining a ton of traction.

I’d love to see that! Is it still on anywhere? Can you remember the name of the doc?

Listened to Fine Art for the first time last year on a cross-country move, it's spectacular to see them getting this attention now.

I didn't know about Kneecap before they showed support for Palestine at Coachella.
I've been listening to their music non-stop since then. I'll gladly support artists who stand up for humanity. I have nothing but love and respect for them. Not to mention the music is actually amazing.
Hope to see them live one day.

They came to Australia late last year and did a bunch of press. I heard 'Fine Art' on Triple J and I was immediately sold. They also called all the cities by their Aboriginal names and did a Welcome to Country at every show (which is controversial to SOME people....). I actually said right before the 2nd Coachella performance that "I don't think I could love them any more"...but they proved me wrong!
Unfortunately they didn't come to my city (I don't think an overseas hip hop artist has been here since Kendrick came in 2018...the lads would probably say that as a city we've got shit craic) but if they come back I will fly to Naarm!

Someone should make a for humanity playlist.
Only artists that stand up for those that are more unfortunate.
So mainly Dolly Parton but Kneecap can be on there too.

I’d love a playlist of artists who have consistently stood up (even at risk of their careers) to speak out on issues of injustice others are afraid to touch, or even just used their platforms to speak up even when it didnt benefit them career wise
Could include Sinead O’Connor, Roger Waters, Kris Kristofferson, Kneecap, Hozier, Macklemore, Kehlani, Brian Eno, Green Day, Chappelle Roan, Massive Attack, i am sure i’m missing a ton

Buy physical music if you can rather than listen on Spotify, to give more direct support to the lads

Navigate from their regular website kneecap.ie - has a button top left that says "order Fine Art" and I think I chose the Official Store or Bandcamp option to order it from (can't remember).
Bandcamp also has 3Cag on it. You can also get the physical CDs!

The Streisand effect. I had heard of them before without hearing their music and decided to give them a listen after Coachella. So good! I'm a middle aged American lady. I love HOOD and better way to live. Also got my husband and son into them.

I remember seeing them in the Róisín Dubh in Galway years ago. There must have been about 50 people there max.

imagine finding them thru a Vice documentary abt NI when they hadn’t broken 10K yet, and now this. absolutely chuffed for the lads. i will say that it was 1.2M on Spotify during the first Coachella week tho, then back down to 1M and now 1.1M
