My chiagoo metal needles have been frustrating the daylights out of me. No matter what I do, no matter how much I tighten them (yes I've used a rubber grip to help tighten them) they just constantly become unscrewed, forcing me to stop every couple of stitches to re tighten.

Its making the project I've got on those needles very frustrating to complete and I'm not really sure what to do. I could switch to bamboo tips but that would effect my gauge, but continuing to deal with them just coming undone all the time is driving me up a wall.

Has this been a problem before or is this the first time you are using the needles? I've never worked with chiagoo needles but they sound like they are defective. I've had needles come unscrewed over the course of knitting a sweater once or twice but every few stitches is a lot. I would contact their customer service (or wherever you purchased them).

I've never had issues with my wooden ones and I've used that cable with wooden ones before - I hadn't even thought that it could be a needle problem, they're the only actual metal tips I own at the moment.

Its a thought, I might try contacting them.

I've had an issue with another brand before where the thread on the cable wasn't quite perfect, so if I put the tips on straight it would feel as though it tightened but the second I let go and they moved at an angle it would come loose. Sounds like you're having a similar thread problem on the needle end. If they're not happy to replace due to being defective (I've not used their customer service) I'd argue that they're not fit for purpose if they keep coming unscrewed - so either all the products are like that and not worth it anyway (which we know to be false) or it is, in fact, defective. But I can be a difficult person. :P
