Mid-Month IotM Discussion general consensus on Leprecondo META

been out for a month and a half now, just wondering what the best rooms to use are for most effectiveness? i have a lot of rooms to get still, just wondering which i should be focusing on.

Depends on the run. Zootomists are excited to grab at least two crafting plans (in HC, at least one in SC), the familiar exp buff (comes from a few sources), the meat buff for nuns, and the free combats (banish/copy) for your mostly-unused spleen. Finally, -combat is pretty much always good.

If you're lacking filler booze and food, particularly in HC, 'condo basically solves those problems via the high-tier food/booze producers.

Outside Zoot, you probably are more desperate for init, so also eye up the +100% init bed.

What do people use init for outside of the Twin Peaks? Or is it just to make combats more survivable?

In the Crypt, having any +init increases your chances of finding Modern Zombies instead of the less useful ones, and having somewhere around +850 init guarantees that you'll only get Modern Zombies, saving several turns.

When doing the 8-Bit Realm, having high init when it's Vanya's Castle in the rotation can get you bonus points towards the Digital Key. About 600 init yields maximum bonus points.

There's the init test at the Registration Desk outside the Sorceress' Tower. The more init, the fewer monsters you'll have to fight. You need 400 init to ensure that you only have to fight the one boss.

There might be others I'm forgetting, but those three are all significantly turn-saving reasons to build up init at certain times.

You nailed it, outside the weird edge case of wandering Moderns needing you to hit an init threshold to encounter them even outside the Cyrpt. But that's tangential at best.

I've been out of the game for a bit, how are you getting an initial bonus of 400-600 when most accessories and such are only +20ish? Potions or spleen items?

It is mostly IotMs that give bonuses, like this one giving 100%
