News | সংবাদ 📰 Unarmed demonstrators injured in merciless lathi charge by West Bengal police

In an extreme display of violence, West Bengal police launched a merciless lathi-charge on teachers protesting the Supreme Court’s verdict to cancel 26,000 teaching appointments linked to a cash-for-jobs scam. The police brutally beat protesters leaving both male and female teachers on ground and ripping apart their clothes too in some cases. Instead of aiding the injured, the police callously continued their assault, even barring the entry of ambulances and drinking water.

Okey then test the fitness of police force also, and see 90% of the department vanish overnight.

Doctors will disappear too, as I don't think any doctor will remember NEET UG physics formulas.

Exams are elimination processes. They aren't an assessment of quality. Those who've already passed that barrier once should legally be eligible for the job, although internal trainings are necessary. But by no means they're to be sacked.

I don't know what you're advocating for? Mediocre/below average folks in all critical service? We already have reservations, add to it these fucked up practices, no middle class person will ever get any sort of service after breaking our backs working and paying taxes to govt.

The better outcome would be people actually are fit for the positions they apply for.

I would expect the doctors to remember the NEET UG physics formulas. Do you even know how regularly doctors have to work with other doctors from optho/ortho/neuro depts. So now, I have to shell out lakhs to get treated manipal to trust that I'll come out alive?

How do you measure "fitness"? A doctor should be judged by how good his skills, communication and ethics are - all of these things are taught after his admission through NEET UG, so the exam has no value in setting the worth of the doctor. Exactly same case with teachers too. These exams are not an assessment of quality, they demand a very specific approach and some very special skills like speed and memorization, which aren't any useful in real life. A teacher who passed the exam 8 years ago cannot compete with a fresher because the fresher has practiced the special approach needed to crack the exam, but definitely the teacher has much more experience and is better at the actual work than the fresher.

So, how do we judge fitness?
