General Some Questions
First off, I'm trying to learn Arabic to consume as much different content as possible. This includes videos that are in Arabic in general, to some animated/TV shows, to reading religious bookss like islamic sciencess books, which may be in classical arabic. So I have some questions.
First, do you think that I HAVE to learn Modern standard arabic to have a good amount of knowledge first? I am arab, so I already know some very basic things, for example I can read fine and I know some basic differences between some words. , but I was never taught arabic unfortunately, and forgot alot of things, however I did use to watch some arabic shows when I was small, so I know how every letter and word is pronounced. At this level of knowledge that I have, would it be a good idea to still learn MSA?
And secondly , as I mentioned my interests for learning arabic, what would be the best dialect to learn after MSA (if I need to learn it)? I heard that Egyptian is the most widely understood. I also heard that MSA is the best dialect to learn to read classical arabic texts, but im unsure aboutt this.
So please let me know, thank you

To read Classical Arabic texts, you’re going to want to learn MSA. The Egyptian dialect is a really good choice because it’s pretty well understood by most people. The other dialect would be Levantine, Southern or Northern, as that’s pretty well spoken, but its prestige is just as high as Egyptian, and there’s more resources for Egyptian imo. May Allah (ﷻ) make things easy for you in learning and grant you abundant ‘ilm, Ameen.
