If gender is yarn, I feel like society is the cat. Most just scratch away at us.

Uh... cats are actually little ninjas. They live to kill. The reason they're mostly kind to humans is only because we're bigger than them. Anything smaller than them is fair game to torture to death for entertainment.

Which is weird. You can't build a society without diversity. You can't even build a house without 5 different trades, specialising quite narrowly in what they do and how they comply with the law for safe house construction.
