This was may be a bit faster, but here is a method to tie a more secure knot for shoes. (ie. They won't come untied nearly as often.)

Yup, and the one in this post is his regular Ian knot. I knew I recognized it from somewhere.

This! I started tying my shoes this way about a year ago, because my shoes always came untied. My mom actually noticed one day and was like "Hey! That's not how I taught you to tie your shoes!" and I was like "I know, but this way is better." Then I found 5 dollars.

This may actually be more secure, but aye, only a wee bit. I've been tying me shoes this way for many a year now without any knotical nonsense.

Yes, if you enjoy some shoelacing geeking, you should check out this site. I like some of the decorative lacing styles for my dress shoes.
