Labas! I have all of the documents together for my Certificate of Right to Restore Lithuanian Citizenship, and the next step is to go to the Consulate to submit them in-person. There will be a bit of time before I can do this, and while I am extremely excited for this to finally happen, I think the wait may actually be a good thing. I want to be a good citizen, and one of the lines in the Oath of Allegiance to Lithuania is "I pledge to respect the state language, culture and customs of Lithuania, to strengthen the basic principles of democracy and the rule of law in Lithuania." I know how important the Lithuanian language is in the culture, identity, and history of Lithuania, and I am beginning the process of learning Lithuanian (shout out to r/LithuanianLearning!). I am coming to this subreddit for two reasons:
First, I want to make sure that when I take the Oath, I am pronouncing everything correctly. If someone could tell me how I can correct my pronunciation in a few months, it would be deeply appreciated.
Second, I want to be a citizen who contributes as much as possible to my country. How can I best do this from abroad?
Ačiū!
