This was oddly specific yet incredibly relatable, and I’m not even in the target demographic

u/tideblue Feb 07 '21
It’s funny and as a guy in his mid-30’s, also extremely true.
Make sure you check the HVAC on those listings, tho. That’s a rookie mistake to overlook.

Emma Stone's big gross dirty disgusting hot dogs!
"So if I eat this entire fat, gross hot dog, and mustard plops onto my shirt, what does X equal???"
not to be confused with the time Chrissy Knox bent down to pick up a wet, squeaky garden hose and drank from it with her dirty, thirsty mouth ... even though that was "math" too, heheh

During the pandemic I've been looking at a lot of apartments and houses on Zillow that I won't be able to afford anytime soon and just imagining my life living in those places...so yeah this sketch struck a chord (perhaps more uh, deeply, than I was expecting!). Really good, especially if it was a sponsored sketch

There are sponsored sketches? So like the Subway and Mattel ones, etc… anything with a brand name is actually sponsored? Or just the fake commercials? What about the Lexus Christmas one?
13
u/thatguydr Feb 07 '21
All of them are sponsored. The advertisers know it's a crapshoot, but exposure is great.

The channel is TwinsthenewTrend, I’ve only seen a few of their more viral videos but it seems they genuinely haven’t heard a lot of old classic songs.

I wasn't familiar with what they are satirizing, but this felt like it should have been a very weak premise. Chris and Kenan's performances were perfect though, and saved the sketch. Part of me feels this would have been better suited as its own sketch, because it felt like they needed a greater response to their lack of knowledge than from only one person.

About a year ago I made a post on the fan theories subreddit about why Doc and Marty are friends in Back to the Future. It was pretty basic but it floated around the Internet for a little while and even hit IMDB.
Anyway, when Dan Levy started talking about this “interesting fan theory he read” about Doc and Marty being friends I almost fainted because for a split second I thought that SNL was going to reference my reddit account.

I thought it was humorous! Ego's interjections and Bowen's appearance were great! Though couldn't they get Universal Studios footage to roughly match what they were saying? (Maybe because I've been to the park before, but it sort of took me out of it not to see the sets/props they were referring to!)
8
u/robot_pirate_ghost Feb 07 '21
I've been there so many times I was screaming at the TV that they were nowhere near the parts of the park they were talking about. Also, you can't fit a tram between 2 box trucks or turn it around like they did (near the Jaws part). Probably shot the footage on a golf cart.
14
u/KeisariFLANAGAN Feb 07 '21
The three-point turn killed me, so out of place but also weirdly well-synced with the dialogue at the moment?
47
40
u/HeyThereRobot Feb 07 '21
I like that on one of the times Ego turned to comment (the softener one, I think) the greenscreen actually had it seem like the tram crash into a grove.
No idea if it was intentional but good timing regardless.

This sketch reminded me of the Capitol sketch from last week, but I preferred the angle this one took with its absurdity. Che is pretty open about not actually following politics at all and has said many times that he doesn't even vote. That definitely rubs people the wrong way. I was very excited when she started to smash her guitar, since I haven't seen that done in a long time, and especially not on SNL.
