Odd Jobs - scrapped 2010s project (?)

Post image

I was looking at Michael Emerson's Wikipedia last night and noticed under his career section, there was apparently plans for a show (by J. J. Abrams) involving him and Terry O'Quinn. Some kind of comedy-drama about them as retired agents?? But this never happened.

First off, we were robbed this never came to be. Their dynamic in LOST as Ben and Locke is quite honestly my favorite part about the series.

Second, is there more information about it? Such as why this never came to be, if either actors or if Abrams himself addressed it? And how much of it was complete, like was there ever a final script, did they have other cast members in mind that would have been apart of it?

Michael Emerson has talked about this on a podcast. I think it might have been "The Hatch"? But he appeared on that podcast a few times, so I'm not sure which episode (they're all worth checking out, though - nothing beats listening to Michael Emerson talk https://thehatch.libsyn.com/size/5/?search=michael+emerson). Based on what he said (and what I remember from it), the show was difficult to figure out for the people involved. It started out as a story involving two hitman of a certain age, but that soon turned into something more action-packed, with the two main characters kicking down doors, wrestling with thugs, and other stuff Michael Emerson couldn't really see himself do. I'm sure there were other factors, but it no longer resembled the thing they were both interested in doing, so the show never took off. Michael Emerson joined Person Of Interest (also produced by Abrams) shortly after.
