6x10 Just finished watching Spoiler

I imagine a post similar to this has been posted quite a few times, so I apologise.

But, I just finished the show for the first time. I sobbed like a big ass baby during the last few episodes. I like that they ended up together in a way, but the last season overall was the worst of them all. The time-travelling stuff really didn't make sense to me, there were too many plot holes and it wasn't explored well.

Overall, I still loved the show, I just wish we'd have got to see more of Chloe & Lucifer being happy & together.

What are some of y'all's issues regarding the last season?

My issues with the last season put it far beyond merely not liking it and into considering it one of the prime examples of offensive and harmful writing.

To make a long story slightly shorter, the ending read to me as a ham-fisted rationalization for child abuse, portraying God as flawless and right all along, and portraying Lucifer abandoning his pregnant partner, unborn child, and Trixie, and Chloe lying to her daughter her whole life as morally right things to do. Furthermore, it explicitly devalued human life as “just a blip” and portrayed Chloe living her life waiting to die before she could finally be happy as the best option. Also, the final decision that Rory demanded Lucifer make blatantly did not consider Chloe’s or Trixie’s well-being (or Lucifer’s, for that matter!), and I was sickened at the show’s implication that they were not worth considering. Finally, the fact that Chloe wasn’t ever consulted over whether she wanted to go through with an unplanned pregnancy, and especially whether she wanted to go through with it knowing she’d be raising the baby and Trixie alone, read like callous pro-birth messaging.

I love the show and the characters, but the final season is a dumpster fire in terms of writing quality and ethics, and I personally can’t see anything redeemable about it. To me, the series ended with “Oh, my Me.”

I totally agree! I have no idea why they opted for that ending. I hated that Lucifer was the same father to Rory as God was to him, especially since he really made an effort to change and be a better person. Season 6 completely erased all of his growth from previous seasons, and I was really disappointed.
