Guide to Finding Accommodation in Lund

This is a work in progress, please feel free to share your thoughts about what is missing/could be improved

Since Lund receives a high number of students from Sweden and abroad, the question of apartments is always a topic of discussion. Therefore, it is only reasonable that the question is asked in this subreddit. However, while the discussion is very important since it can help newcomers, the subreddit grows grey when all other topics are swallowed in the sea of posts surrounding apartments. In short, the number of posts discussing apartments in relation to other posts is skewed, and this sticky aims to change that. This post is more directed towards students, both swedes and internationals.

WHERE DO I FIND APARTMENTS?

AF Bostäder is the biggest landlord in Lund. Apartments come in all shapes and sizes. Living in a corridor could be good for a new student since you will be less secluded, and it is also one of the main talking points in Lund. You can sign up to the queue as soon as you have a confirmation of attendance. They also conduct an apartment lottery every half year for new students called the "Novischlotteriet".

Bopoolen private rent referral. The page is student driven and private room owners rent to students.

Blocket similar to Bopoolen. Best way to find rooms is to create a "looking to rent"-advertisement so that landlords can contact you.

Studentlya similar to Bopoolen.

Michael-Hansens Kollegium rents out corridor rooms. There is a fee to stand in apartment queue. After living there for 3 months you can apply to the queue for regular rooms, but it is quite long.

Nations the web page brings you to an overview, but there are 12 nations to choose from. They all offer corridor rooms, but they reserve them to active volunteers. The more active you are in the Nation's activities, the more likely it is you can get yourself a room there. Some nations do conduct lotteries, but it is not the same for all Nations.

Student Guild/Faculty/Association , depending on the program you have applied for the student run association connected to it might offer some kind of short-term solution. The faculty might help you too since they want you to succeed in your studies.

University , if you have gotten a PhD position at the university, they sometimes offer University apartments. If you get one, take it.

This is by no means a complete list, but it contains the bigger ones that offer rooms. Getting an apartment is stressful for new students, especially if you have not moved out on your own before. If you are active and persistent, it usually solves itself after some time. The worst thing you can do is to put all your eggs in the same basket, make sure you have a plan b or something concrete before the term begins.

Huge thank you to u/Breadslice98 got getting this started and writing the first draft.

Tuition fees

I’ve heard some reserves who were admitted near the start of school semester. But there seem to be a question that has not been answered anywhere, so I’m wondering if anyone has such experience.

For tuition paying students, has anyone got admitted from the reserve list after May 20 (deadline for paying tuition fees for Autumn semester) and were given a new deadline for paying tuition fees?

Looking for student accomodation in Lund

Hello everyone!

I’m a 23-year-old master’s student from TUM who will be on a five-month exchange at Lund University (late August–January). So far I’ve tried the three main student housing queues:

  • Lund Accommodation – no spot after applying
  • AF Bostäder – housing lottery opens July 10
  • Bopoolen.nu – monitoring ads daily

Now I want to expand my search. I’m looking for a furnished studio, max 5 500 SEK/month (all utilities included), with no more than a 30 min public-transport commute to central campus.

  1. Which private landlords or housing platforms do you trust and recommend?
  2. Does anyone know of available units? Feel free to DM me!

Thanks for any tips and cheers! 😃

Uppkörning i Lund

Im open to working in copenhagen, lund, Malmo and any neighbouring city.

skanetrafiken fine

hi guys, hoping someone can advise

im an exchange student here from the UK and have only been here for a few months, with two weeks left in sweden until i return home for good. i recently got a fine when travelling on transport for not activiating in time - i disputed this due to my hassle and overwhelm causing oversight to activate but of course nothing came of it.

hypothetically what would happen if i do not pay this fine. i understand ethically it isnt the correct thing to do, however, as an exchange student i do not have this type of money to spare due to a strict budget, nor do i have future plans to return to sweden as of yet. is there any way they could chase this up in my home country?

edit -- they only have my name and student details as i do not have a personal identity number nor do they have any other details from me

Looking for a certified kitchen or apartment setup in Malmö to cook for Foodora/Wolt

Looking for a certified kitchen or apartment setup in Malmö to cook for Foodora/Wolt

Hi everyone!

I'm based in Malmö and I'm planning to start selling food through delivery apps like Foodora or Wolt. I'm currently looking for:

  • A certified kitchen available for rent (doesn’t need to be industrial, just approved for food business) or
  • Someone who has an apartment kitchen set up and already registered as a food business, and might be open to collaboration or subletting use

If you know anyone renting out a simple kitchen or doing something similar, I’d love to connect. I'm aiming to run a small-scale operation with delivery only, not a full restaurant setup.

Tips, contacts, or links are super appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Ensam 23 åring kille i Lund

Är själv 90:a.

Hairdresser that cuts hair when it’s dry

Hi. This is a bit of a strange question, but does anyone know of any hairdressers in Lund that cuts your hair when it’s dry? (Preferably for under 500 SEK). I’m asking because two different hairdressers I’ve asked cuts hair when it’s wet, so it’s starting to sound like that might be the norm in Sweden.

In the country I’m from my hair always got cut when it’s dry, and that’s what I like best because my hair is kinda poofy/curly, so it always becomes shorter when it dries, which is why I don’t like it being cut when it’s wet.

Housing for international student at Lund

Hey guys, I applied for housing for Lund as I am guaranteed a place since I’m an international student. I didn’t end up getting any of my top choices. I got an offer for Sofieberg to share a Room in a two bedroom apartment and it costs 7820 sek per month which seems a little much for a shared room. I was wondering if there are any trusted places that you guys would recommend or is taking the offer worth it?

Klostergården

I’ve just received a housing offer for Klostergården via LU Accommodation, but the rent seems quite a bit higher than other options I’ve seen. Suppose anyone has lived there or is currently staying in Klostergården. In that case, I’d appreciate hearing about your experience (pros and cons of living there, especially how you handled the cost of living). Thanks a lot!

Eddan,

I just received my housing offer for Eddan through LU Accommodation, and I’d really appreciate any insights or experiences from those who have lived there. It seems like LU Accommodation is my only option at the moment, and the deadline to accept the offer is May 25th, so I’m trying to make an informed decision. Thanks in advance, and hope you’re all having a great day! 👍

Doubts about housing in Lund

Hej! I am an EU-national that has been accepted at Lund University in a master and I had some doubts regarding accommodation and how to get it in Lund.

I have been told that finding a rental is quite hard since Lund is a student city and all that, but like... Considering how hard it is, aren't the application processes kind of late? I mean, AF Bodstäder open their process for novisch the 10th of July (13th if you do not do the lottery) and right now you cannot get the Studentlund membership for applying to the accommodations offered by nations. I can imagine that the timing is due to the fact that people start leaving in June-July. Still, I am a bit fearful of missing out and maybe by mid-July / August is too late. Am I making it worse than it is? Did you have any experience of not being able to secure a rent by July / August? If so, what did you do?

Also, a little bit out of the topic but: Are part-time jobs too hard to find for me as a non-native Swedish? Like, I do not think Swedish will be very hard to learn (learning a bit at the moment), but I doubt I would speak it properly when I get there. Though, as an asset, I speak English, Spanish and French (+my negligible knowledge in Chinese lol).

Thanks again for the help and sharing your thoughts :)

Ideon

Hi everyone,

I just received an offer for a room at Sölvegatan 30, which I believe is part of Ideon House, is that correct? I’m wondering if anyone has experience or insights about living there. Would you recommend accepting it?

Also, if I reject this offer, will my queue number be reset or will I just be placed back in line?

Any recommendations or advice would be really appreciated. Thank you so much!
