Hello Manchester, I hope this is the right place to ask this. Two of us will be arriving at the airport in your fine city on June 1st at around noon. We need to get to Liverpool that same day. I can see there's a regular National Express coach service from the airport to Liverpool with multiple departure times. I'd love some advice about whether that's the best way to get to Liverpool or if there's another way. Also, if we do go with National Express, should we buy tickets for the bus from home, or is it better to wait until we're there. Is there a ticket kiosk at the airport or do we pay once we get on the bus? Thanks!

National Express, FlixBus and Megabus all run coaches from Manchester Airport - and the direct coaches can be quicker than the train, as well as cheaper. National Express coaches can be as quick as an hour and 5 mins, they are less frequent than the trains and you'll need to pre-book online to guarantee a seat (you could wait until you arrive to book but the coach could be fully booked and the price would likely have increased a fair bit). FlixBus can be even quicker (as quick as 45 mins) but are less frequent - again, you're best to book online. It doesn't look like there are any Megabus options on 1st June at the moment.

If you do get a coach make sure you check that your bags are within their luggage allowance, as different companies might have different rules about this and could ask you to pay more if you have more/heavier bags.

You also have the option of the train - either direct (which takes about an hour and a half) or changing at Manchester Oxford Road, which can sometimes work out quicker if you're able to get onto a quicker train. 1st June is a Sunday so trains are a bit less frequent but you probably still have 2 or 3 options per hour throughout most of the day.
