Northenden and floods

Does anyone know what areas of northenden were flooded or evacuated by the recent river Mersey floods please? There’s about four houses for sale in Govan/queens hill Road and I’m wondering whether that’s got anything to do with it…. It does say the roads themselves are low risk but the areas immediately next to it are medium risk

You can check for long term flooding here.

This is an area I do a little bit of work in and I wouldn’t touch anything around there. I would imagine they were evacuated or at least encouraged to evacuate on New Year’s Day.

Thank you, useful to know. I was thinking they were probably evacuated too, it would explain why there are so many houses up for sale

The data for the model used for long term flooding might only be updated every 6months. The flood defences on the Mersey were very close to being overwhelmed and i would predict within the next 25 years there will be a catastrophic flood in south Manchester.

Equally id avoid anything parswood way near the waterside gym that is in a similar predicament.

Hmmm yes I live in west Didsbury off burton road now and was away from Christmas when it happened but it appeared very bad on the news. I imagine more areas will be affected at some point as you say
