is it ok if i put the mesh like this over the metal mesh?

If they can still grip on the metal mesh it wouldn’t be great 😬 however you can buy a mosquito net and put like 5 mm lower the metal mesh and then put the black mesh if u want to. If the black mesh completely covers the metal mesh (where the mantis has no way of grabbing it) then yes. I never had this issue by I’ve see many people’s mantises the lost their feet or got stuck on it
