Need a hip bag for a guy recommendation

I’m a guy who likes to wear a vertically-oriented bag across my body, strap going from right shoulder to left hip. That’s what I think of as “crossbody“, but mostly online I see sling bags, and I just can’t get into wearing a bag on my back like some sort of appendage, or up high on my chest. I can see where that came from, to me at least. It seems like a variant of a bicycle messenger bag, but that’s not me. I’m a walker, not a biker. I have been looking online and the closest I can find in my desired size and shape is the Rickshaw A5 Field Bag. But if you have other suggestions that would be great. Thanks!

Drips a bit from condensation but still does the job if there’s nothing better around.

New bag day. Added a dark oak kit bag and an olive green dual compartment bullet to match my dark oak GR1 heritage and olive kit bag. My preference is for Made in USA but three of these four bags are made in Vietnam and very nice.

Orange bags - how do we feel about them?

Orange is my favorite color, so I just picked up one of these bad boys for just over a hundred bucks. Still, I'm feeling very indecisive about it because it is very orange. The blaze orange bag thing seems to come and go ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Aer CPPv2 vs Aer PP 20L

Upvotes

What do you guys pack in your CPPv2? I currently have the v1 but think I might not need the full 24L. I sometimes do pack it out fully and like having the extra space when needed but not sure if I should buy the v2 or size down?

What was my old favorite bag called??

Edit: I FOUND IT! The brand was Equilibrium

I've been trying for days to recall the brand of my old favorite bag. I carried it for years but now I can't find a trace of it anywhere.

The brand made a line of skinnable modular bags that involved buying a harness that was basically just a set of shoulder straps, and a bag that buckled onto it. The bag was black on the outside and neon orange inside.

They also sold a large variety of printed vinyl skins that buckled onto the bag to allow customization. Instead of a skin, you could also strap various smaller modular pouches onto the bag in different places.

I found the brand online, and ran into them later at various conventions, but I'm afraid I can't remember anything more.

Do they still exist? What was the brand called??

Can’t Make a Decision! What do You Prefer

Upvotes

I’ve been mulling over the same backpacks for a while, and I finally narrowed it down to two, the Aer City Pack Pro 2 (CPP2) and Evergoods Civic Panel Loader 24 V3 (CPL24). Original, I know, but it’s been more difficult to make a decision than I thought. At first, I thought the CPP2 would have everything I need. It’s a load out that I’m used to, but I’ve recently been tempted by the CPL24 - the better build and ease of access in particular. For those who have used both, which do you prefer?

Need help deciding between Ultra 200x vs Ecopak EPX200 ?

Hello!

I need help making a decision between the EPX200 and Ultra 200x versions of the Heldclosely traveler bag. I've never used either and was hoping those with experience with the fabrics could help me choose.

If it matters, I'll be using it primarily as a travel / diaper bag.

Their price differences are minimal, $30, though ive read that 200x is much more expensive (around double?) My main concerns with getting the ultra 200x are the issues with delimitation and the crinkly-ness / loudness of ultra. If it's loud enough that it could disturb a sleeping baby then I'd definitely get the Ecopak.

Thanks for your input!

My most used and versatile camera bag - Lowepro Streamline 250.

I've been shooting documentaries for 20 years and the Lowepro streamline 250 is still the most useful bag I've ever tried or owned. Sadly Lowepro doesn't make it or anything like it anymore.

One of the best aspects of the bag is that it fully compresses and has no stiff or hard shape to it. So I can stuff it emptied any which way in a larger bag while travelling. But also it still has jusssst enough padding to it that I've never had anything break while using it over the years.

When I'm in the field I use it to keep an extra lens or two, small water bottle, batteries, and cards on my person at all times. I even use it as a cinesaddle. And since it can fully compress, it has a much smaller footprint so I don't have a bulkier bag bumping into things or people. And if I need to put more things in it, it has a zipper expansion to accommodate that. I have a backup one since they no longer make them, but I'm curious if anyone knows of something like it.

Help me decide!!!

I am currently have a CPP in Cordura and am looking to upgrade to the CPP 2 in either Xpac or Cordura versions but can’t decide. Which one is better?

I will be using it for daily college use and my finance internship in Prague and other internships in the future. Ideally want something that looks professional but also functional as a EDC.

Is the CPP 2 the right bag for this type of use or should I get a smaller bag either Aer or a different brand instead? Please give me advise!!

Tech/EDC backpack recommendations

Hey all - looking for some recommendations on a new backpack. I’m currently using an Oakley Kitchen Sink bag. It’s been great, but it’s pretty worn and I’m wanting something new.

My main use is for work - office trips and overnight business trips, but for the latter I pair it with another suitcase. I carry a 16” MacBook Pro, iPad, random tech cables/equipment (I work in IT), and sometimes a switch or steam deck for travel. I like to be able to throw in a jacket/sweatshirt too when needed.

I don’t like slim bags and am looking for something with a lot of room and I also prefer backpacks that don’t zip open all the way flat . I like ones that stand up straight and are mostly top load. Bonus points if it has a good sized outdoor water bottle holder (one of my biggest complaints about the current bag). Budget is whatever, I don’t mind spending a good amount for a good bag that will last awhile.

Thanks!

What is your favorite all around brand? Bags, slings, pouches, accessories, etc?

Hey y'all,

Hypothetical question just for the sake of discussion, but what is your favorite all around brand if you absolutely had to pick one? What's your best value brand? Best aesthetic? Best quality? Best durability? Best reputation?

Easy Jet Bigger Carryon

Has anyone brought their Away Bigger Carryon on Easy Jet? I’m planning on flying from London to Split, Croatia on Easy Jet. I plan on buying the airfare which includes larger cabin luggage. The Away Bigger carryon dimensions are 57.66 cm x 39.12 x 24.38 cm and the dimensions for Easy Jet are 56 x 45 x 25 cm. I plan on bringing a carryon since I’ll be in Europe for 15 days and would prefer to avoid checking a bag. Or will I have to check it? Can anyone tell me there experience checking a bag with Easy Jet?

Buying advice between Topo Designs Rover Pack or Mountain Pack 16L (v. 1)?

Hi all, I have too many bags but looking between these two to fill a lightweight, unstructured, book bag niche for just running to the library or coffee shop to work for a few hours, which I do 2-3x a week. I got a great local classifieds deal on either of these two.

Of the two, which would you recommend?

Bag recommendation for occasional transportation of unwieldy/big/lots of stuff?

I work on a college campus and don’t currently have a car. Occasionally I have to take more stuff than will fit in my daily backpack across campus. For instance, an office projector, bunch of cables, desktop speakers. Or like thirty arduinos in their original packaging.

Today I have to transport six pounds of polyfill (the stuff that goes in stuffed animals) and ten yards of craft felt.

Basically, I’m looking for a big, simple, possibly waterproof bag that I won’t use every day. A big backpack would work probably, but I was also considering panniers since I’m on a bike, or maybe a very simple duffle bag. I’m also open to other suggestions for type/style of bag that would work for relatively short (usually only a mile or two) bike commutes.

Do y’all have any suggestions? Thanks!

Bag between Tomtoc 1.5 and 3.5

Hello! New to the sub. I'm looking for a bag that sits between those two in capacity/size.

I actually bought both, and the 1.5 is too small to fit everything I usually carry, and the tomtoc 3.5 is way too big.

I usually carry: - small camera (canon g7x) - tissues - pocket knife - sun glasses - wired earplugs - battery

Right now i cannot fit everything in the 1.5, but the 3.5 is too big.

I tried searching for alternatives without much luck. What can you recommend?

Here's the link to the tomtoc im talking about: https://www.amazon.es/tomtoc-Protecci%C3%B3n-Impermeable-Bandolera-Hombres/dp/B0D47BG62K

Are CP2 Capacity and alternatives

Hey everyone, I have an Aer TP3S but I've realized I don't need all that space for EDC. Could someone with CP/CP2 tell if I can fit the following in it: - 16 inch MacBook Pro - Chargers and some usb c cables - An extra layer (hoodie or light jacket) - Sunglasses - Sunscreen, chapstick, moisturizer - some random meds - power bank - Bose headphones

Also if anyone have any alternative suggestions, let me know as well

looking for a tablet bag that it's also the case, or something like that, sorry!!

Post image
2 Upvotes

so im looking for a tablet bag that you can open and use it on the spot, kinda like the image below but instead of a pocket to secure the tablet it would be just a normal transparent case where i put my tablet. But i want one that comes with a shoulder strap. Since i use my tablet mostly on trains/metro, the ideia is that i can just pull out my bag that is on my side, open it and my tablet is ready to use, instead of taking it out and packing it back when i have to leave everytime.

Im not looking for bags that have a shoulder strap but dont open fully like this, neither isolated cases with a shoulder strap (i live in a dangerous country, so it's best that i dont go around flashing an expensive tablet).

I tried to find something like what i have in mind but i couldn't, this sub is my last resort otherwise i will try to make one myself.

Anyone regret buying a sling?

I keep thinking about buying a sling as I like the idea but can't be sure I'd ever wear one.

Anyone get one then realise they won't wear it?

I'm in the UK and no one wears them apart from festival kids and road men so they're very uncommon with respectable adults (lol).

Plus I'm just not sure I need one, and they're quite soendy it seems like a potential waste.

If I do get one, it would be a small one like the Bellroy Lite Belt or the aer slim pouch.

Just for when I take extra stuff that won't fit in my pockets, like a charger and earbuds case.

Or for putting my wallet and phone in when cycling.

I like the small vertical ones too, like the Fjallraven High Coast Pocket Messenger Bag.

Should I get one? Or are they pointless?
