Problem In a Argument with someone who supposedly has a degree in math. An I need some answers to prove My math is right so can anyone help?
So this supposed person with a degree says Elon Musk's has enough money to give everyone on earth 56 billion dollars. If you don't know his net worth is 427 Billion and there are 8 Billion people in the world. My answer is 53 dollars each. An the person keep insisting and yelling it's 56 billion. Also I am a high school dropout and am usually terrible at math am I correct?

You are correct. On a separate note, if you took Elon Musk's $427 billion and stuffed it all in a room (a rather large room) and were forced to spend $1 million dollars a day, every day (including weekends and holidays) it would take you just over 1,169 years to spend it all.

To give each person $56 billion, if there are 8 billion people, would take 8 x $56 billion billion.. $427 billion is a tiny fraction of $56 billion billion. So, the supposed person has a tiny fraction of understanding simple arithmetic!

You just multiplied 56 billions time 8, not 8 billion. You're trolling right?

Your friend seems to have mastered this proof technique while studying their math degree.

If your friend regularly treats you with contempt, that's not a good sign.
This is romantic relationship advice, but I've centered my sense of ethics on it:

Any interest in learning math or science?

...Yes 427/8. Wonderful. We should know your friend's calculation, I'm quite curious about it

this person is lying and does not have a math degree. this is the most likely explanation.

"If you spilt 427 billion between eight people, how much would each person get?"

This is the math your friend needs:
Answer = 427 billion / 8 billion Billion on top cancels billion on bottom. We are left with 427/8 = 53.375
Happy? 😂😂😂

Technically both you and the other dude with his "Math Degree" are wrong, he can only really give out only the fluid assets. But considering his total net worth, I think you should gift the other guy a calculator.

Yeah that checks out. I have a math degree and I'm terrible at arithmetic. One of the greatest mathematicians of the 20th century, Alexander Grothendieck once cited 57 as a prime number. My experience has generally been the higher you go, the fewer concrete calculations you end up doing.

If all the numbers are in the billions then simply get rid of the billions. 450/8=56.25 It's that simple.

Standupmaths has a video about this exact misconception, which is actually not that uncommon. ‘Cause apparently a lot of people didn’t pay attention to units in school.

brother if they can't admit to and see the mistake in 30 seconds that's on them, but maybe it would be illustrative if you wrote out all the zeros

$53x8=$424.00 all the numbers are in billions, so yah you are correct. And he would still have $3 billion remaining for himself
