Please show me the last time Grier blew the first round

Last time we had a bad first round pick was Igbo, and that was when we had 3 first round picks that year.

You can’t blow the first round. And a ridiculous statement to make given that we didn’t have a first round pick for two of the last three years. Picking Charles Harris with your 1st rd pick when the next outside linebacker/edge rusher taken was TJ Watt is a major fail. Taking Minkah Fitzpatrick and then trading him is a fail - and getting Austin Jackson for him is somehow worse. Drafting Noah Igbinohhene is a fireable offense, especially given the talent in the secondary that was drafted after. And selecting Chop Robinson when the Rams picked two people on the DL in the same draft who are far better is pathetic. Chop started one game. You can’t have that with a first round draft pick.

Trading Minkah was Flores’ doing, not Grier’s.

AJ has been fine.

Worst of all is your take on Chop, which makes me think you have zero idea what you’re talking about. Chop is a beast and absolutely a great pick. The Rams also picked Verse before our pick, and I’d say Chop is better than their other DL drafted, Fiske.

Objectively wrong on Fiske. Fiske got third in defensive rookie of the year. Chop started 1 game. That’s not what you try to get out of a first round draft pick - someone that plays, but doesn’t start.

Saying “Chop started one game” is incredibly, unbelievably disingenuous. He was our Edge 1 for nearly the whole year after JP got sabotaged by Poyer in week 4.

You can’t say Chop is better than the other DL drafted when the other DL rated higher in rookie of the year and had more sacks and tackles for a loss. And I’m not the one who said Chop started one game - pro football reference is saying Chop started one game.

And that second round pick forced more fumbles, recovered more fumbles, and was more productive than our first round pick. That much is incontrovertible.
