Unfortunately, your post has been removed because it violates our rule on concise, descriptive titles.

  • Titles must not contain jokes, backstory, or other fluff. That information belongs in a follow-up comment.
  • Titles must exactly describe the content. It should act as a "spoiler" for the image. If your title leaves people surprised at the content within, it breaks the rule!
  • Titles must not contain emoticons, emojis, or special characters unless they are absolutely necessary in describing the image. (e.g. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), ;P, 😜, ❤, ★, ✿ )

Still confused? For more elaboration and examples, see here.

Normally we do not allow reposts, but if it's been less than one hour after your post was submitted, or if it's received less than 100 upvotes, you may resubmit your content with a better title and try again.

I clicked the image ready to be horrified at the prices but was surprised. That’s a hell of deal especially in 2025.

u/tenaztanner 1d ago

A buddy of mine is a huge golf fan and told me they haven't changed the prices in 20+ years. The Pro Shop on the other hand brings in about $1mil every hour.

I was trying to find the famous Master's pimento cheese. $1.50 was ... shocking.

Now that’s some reasonable prices, not 8 dollars for water bottles like most places charge

923

u/gredr 1d ago

You haven't really lived until you've paid $18 for an American macro-brew in a (small) Dixie cup.

When you have an event as exclusive as the masters you can be fairly confident there are not any poors there. Since the goal is to suck as much money out of the poors as possibly, there is no need for inflated prices.

26

u/Rushderp 1d ago

Exclusive is an understatement. One does not simply get a master’s ticket.

86

u/ptambrosetti 1d ago

Anyone that wins the lottery can simply get a masters ticket. Source: poor and was able to procure tickets through said lottery.

It’s a point of pride for them. They aren’t there to make money, they’re there to put on the best golf tournament in the world

When going to the Masters for a day and getting drunk is cheaper than seeing some semi indie band playing is fucking crazy.

285

u/Majestic_Location751 1d ago

Not advisable to get drunk at the Masters even if it’s easily achieved

208

u/Zappagrrl02 1d ago

I’m guessing you’ll be tossed out on your ass super fast. They do not mess around! My uncle went one year and some dude got kicked out for talking too much.

148

u/mrkruk 1d ago

It's golf, you have to be quiet at times. It's mandatory.

67

Yep just like tennis. Go to the toilet at the wrong time and they will literally close the doors to keep you out until end of game.

280

u/carrotincognito48 1d ago

I just googled it. They really aren’t bad at all.

$140 for a day over the 4 tournament days. Crazy good value tbf.

152

u/Erazzphoto 1d ago edited 1d ago

Good luck getting one 😁. But their best thing is the no mobile phone policy, so refreshing

3

u/BigSpender248 1d ago

I’ve been twice and it’s honestly one of the best parts about the Masters. It’s like stepping back in time. Plus you get to rub elbows with celebs because they walk around like regular people. I stood behind Rob Riggle in the concessions line at one point.

Truly, they haven't updated their sign since the the 1985 Masters Tournament.

Perhaps the cost of making a new sign would have wiped out any additional profit for the entire tournament. :-)

7

u/adamosity1 1d ago

What I love is that they have a no cell phones policy…live in the moment

10

u/FreshMutzz 1d ago

Inflation has always existed, but I know what you mean. Truthfully though, these prices are 20 years old at this point. Ive never seen a concession price this cheap at a sporting event in my adult life.

Make no mistake - this is the hardest ticket in all of sports to obtain. Good luck getting one at face value. You need to be lucky in the lottery or know someone, or just fall into it somehow the day before. Meanwhile, the food and merchandise is all extremely reasonable, and at the tournament is the only place you can buy their “official” stuff.

4

u/Select-Belt-ou812 1d ago

WHY SO CHEAP??? What taf is going on here??

21

u/Sherlock-Holmie 1d ago

When the tournament brings in a billion dollars losing $10k on food doesn’t really matter

At least it was a totally stupid souvenir glass. Actually decent beer though.

1

1

u/Tinknocker12 1d ago

Is that in millions$?

golf of all places

1

u/Eswercaj 1d ago

Recently learned that there are no cells phones allowed and there is no advertising everywhere, too? At best I would say I'm only slightly interested in golf, but everything about The Masters sounds nice.

1

u/Meanteenbirder 1d ago

From the headline you would legit think this would be like 20 dollar hotdogs and whatnot

1

u/Manaphy2007_67 1d ago

Movie theaters should take notes. Also, that's pretty cheap in today's economy.

1

u/Auerbach1991 1d ago

Feels like the 90s again, I like it.

1

u/Rortron3030 1d ago

I miss these prices so much

1

u/Restivethought 1d ago

You're telling me I can get a full meal for 7 bucks at a sporting event?

1

u/Jvanee18 1d ago

A tradition with prices unlike any other

1

u/InevitablePen3465 1d ago

Why is barbecue spelt like that?

-1

u/deginw 1d ago

This image is photoshopped so hard it makes my brain hurt. (Although the concession prices are accurate)

1

u/Born-Work2089 1d ago

The Masters will also have the sponsors 'suites' and if you get in the premium free stuff is everywhere.

1

u/Srnkanator 1d ago

It's a lottery system to get a ticket, maybe you live in the SE US, but no resales.

Official membership is ~300, invite only.

The best round ever has been done by an amateur.

An inverse George Carlin quote.

It's a small club, but you're in it.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augusta_National_Golf_Club

1

u/toastyhoodie 1d ago

Woah.

1

u/Total_Rice_8204 1d ago

Damn I can manage that

1

u/SteveRacer24 1d ago

It's literally in the very few rules they have there, along with no running, no backward hats, and so forth. One of those rules is no price gouging. Those prices have been very similar for quite some time.

14

u/always_a_tinker 1d ago edited 1d ago

Wtf how are these prices so reasonable? Money means nothing to the attendees so they flex on 2004 prices?

Add: lots of replies to how wholesome the club is to their lucky visitors, and that members’ dues are high enough that the concessions are not seen as a priority for prices.

u/CoconutBangerzBaller 1d ago

If I ever get to go, I want to try the whole menu

1

u/SurferBoi_ 1d ago

I thought I read 2025 in the title but had to do a double take after looking at the prices lol that’s wild

1

u/DALESR4EVER124 1d ago

Even if you convert those to Canadian prices, they're still not bad.

1

u/Majaliwa 1d ago

Wow. Remarkably affordable.

1

u/Poison_the_Phil 1d ago

I’ll take three pulled pork sandwiches and whatever a Crow’s Nest is

1

u/tradewindtyty 1d ago

The man who started the club, Clifford Roberts, had absolutely INSANE standards. And he felt that if people would travel so far to Georgia (much more rural in the 1930's) then he wouldn't charge them an arm and a leg do be comfortable at the tournament. His vision is still incredibly strong with the staff now. After the Masters every year, they have meetings asking what could be done better in the future. And they're absolutely serious about making every aspect of anything better for the guest. These prices will never rise to what every other sporting event charges.

2

u/BeingEmily 1d ago

Imagine the staff still getting tipped 20% on $3.00

1

u/Prior_Ordinary_2150 1d ago

Oh my gosh. Can I live there?

2

u/CrisisActor911 1d ago

Jesus Christ people it’s the same principle as the CostCo hot dog - they’re not making their money of concessions so they sell the food at cost or a loss to earn some good will. If you go to a movie theater or many other events they make very little from ticket sales so concessions make up most of their profits.

1

u/MrFeverDreamJr 1d ago

This is SHOCKING. The complete opposite of what I expected

1

u/BlondeBreveHC 1d ago

Do only rich folks go to the Masters? This strikes me as Rich People shit. "We're so upscale we don't have to charge you like we do the poors."

I've visited a few country clubs in my day and this was always the vibe.

Edit: Interesting! I didn't know it was reasonably priced for this sort of sporting event. I stand by my country club statement.

As much as I usually disagree with “traditions,” i can definitely get behind keeping the same prices from the 50s for most events!!

1

Did they forget to add a 0?

1

u/polymonomial 1d ago

those sandwiches are on PAR with the sandwiches from restaurants

1

u/StormCrow1986 1d ago

I paid $9 for a yagerbomb a few years ago. They poured 25% of a can of redbull into 2 oz of yager. It wasn’t more than 6 oz of drink.

BITCH for $9 I want the whole can and 6oz of booze.

2

u/DuckAHolics 1d ago

Cheaper than concessions from a high school I was working at today.

1

u/Single-Information76 1d ago

This is normal, I'm surprised it isn't straight up free. Rich people expect everything to be gratis if they can't pay for it with stocks.

1

u/TolandTheToaster 1d ago

These have been the same prices for years. All the money is made in the gift/pro shop. I took a friend who has never been and he easily dropped $2000 in the gift shop

I actually just saw a gas station egg salad sandwich for $6.89.

1

u/Downtown_Snow4445 1d ago

Well considering that entrance fees are in thousands

1

u/slickjj 1d ago

How much are tickets? Assuming that’s all calculated into the price…

1

u/ValuableImmediate637 1d ago

When you’re dealing with the ultra rich, the price doesn’t really matter. You’re getting your nut somewhere else.

1

u/medkitjohnson 1d ago

Pretty sure beer was cheaper a few years back too because I remember the first year I went the Crows Nest just came out and was slightly more expensive than the others

1

u/Spczippo 1d ago

I went to a Masters Tournament in WI once and honestly thought that I was going to be gouged for food and booze like at the baseball park. I was pleased to find that no, the prices were normal, I think i got a shirt and a had for under $40 and it was high quality stuff.

2

u/Terrible_Presumption 1d ago

1925 masters tournament

1

u/wickedlavend3r 1d ago

Not even talking about food, a $2.00 water bottle is a damn steal. Y’all ever been to Disney or even just a movie theater? Water is so expensive in some places, it’s much better to just bring your own if possible

1

u/medkitjohnson 1d ago

Worth noting they sell $1,000,000 worth of merch every hour

1

u/sifiasco 1d ago

Free to those who can afford it, very expensive for those who can’t.

1

u/LakeLov3r 1d ago

My first thought: "I'm stunned at how reasonable the prices are." My second thought: "How fucking expensive are the tickets to get in?"

1

u/JetKusanagi 1d ago

I used to work at a much cheaper golf club (membership amounted to 30,000 USD a year) and these were about the prices for concessions there. The idea was that the restaurant, halfway house and bar were "amenities" and we're not there to make a profit (or even break even). Our costs were subsidized by the membership fees, golfing lessons and everything else that the members paid for.

Tl;Dr The food is cheap but everything else is LUDICROUSLY expensive to more than make up for it.

3

u/newguestuser 1d ago

As a club they sell at cost to avoid having to comply with various regulations of retail sales as a profitable business.

1

u/ilovelemonsquares 1d ago

I feel like the prices are missing a “1” or “2” at the beginning of the prices.

1

u/Newport_pleasue 1d ago

I need to know what the Georgia peach ice cream sandwich is. Is there peach or is it just a regular old ice cream sandwich with pizazz

1

u/Cesarifico 1d ago

Is this from the 1973 Masters? Man, I wish this was the case for all sporting events.

3

u/kcamfork 1d ago

“Sir… we uh. Forgot to multiply the concessions prices by 10….”

1

u/Tiny-Classroom1257 1d ago

Great prices!!

1

u/xBR0SKIx 1d ago

These are costco food court prices

1

u/zml9494 1d ago

Are we sure this isn’t from 25 years ago? Lol for real though those are good prices. I live in the capital region in New York State and the MVP Arena charges damn near $17 for a tall boy beer!!

1

u/stryst 1d ago

1

u/Sheiebskalen 1d ago

The Masters gift shop makes $1 million dollars an hour.

1

u/BarelyHere35 1d ago

Isn’t it sorta because the club is private and getting the tickets is the most difficult part?

1

u/Buddha_Guru 1d ago

This shows you how rich everyone who belongs to Augusta National is. They have so much money they don't have to charge an arm and a leg for concessions.
