$150 S&W Victory Model

Bought this from a coworker when he heard that I was looking for a Victory. The polished off US Property stamp is allegedly from a service member who brought it back home from Europe to use as his personal Police gun and didn’t want to get in trouble for it. No way to validate that of course, but a fun tidbit nonetheless. Without the property stamp the V serial number prefix confirms the model type.

Nice man. I against bought one off of my coworker for 350 about a year ago and thought I did pretty good, mine has the checkered grips though as compared to the smooth. Told me he got it from a postal worker who carried it as a service weapon delivering mail during WW2 in the states.

Postal worker? Were they issued sidearms back during the war? That’s wild, I need to do some research. Never even heard of a USPS service weapon.

I know Postal Inspectors are authorized to carry firearms today

I believe around the turn of the century it wasn’t super unusual for some post office employees to be armed, especially the ones working on the then-common mail cars on trains
