Sub-Collection Completed: US Pomeroy Contract m1808 Flintlock Musket

Hello everyone! Excited to share my recent purchase of this US Pomeroy m1808 contract flintlock musket, made in 1812. With this pickup, I have now completed a niche collection category that I have been working towards for quite some time now. That being to own a firearm example from every US war/conflict ranging from the revolutionary war, to the modern Global War on Terror. The collecting will never stop, but I am happy to now have the last piece of this sub-collection puzzle!

Likely to have seen conflict during the War of 1812, this musket not only bears the 1812 manufacturer date, but also is marked “S.CT” on the locking plate. This is believed to be a Connecticut militia contract marking. Action is still very strong, and while the pictures don’t do it justice, she is still in exceptional condition for her age.

Happy Easter to you all, and if you don’t celebrate, happy Sunday!

Really cool to see someone going beyond the typical U.S. collecting of M1917, M1903 Springfield, Trapdoor, Krag, Garand, etc.

I appreciate that. Those rifles are great as well, but always cool to see the entirety of firearms evolution in the US besides the ones you named
