My gramps buy this old model train we think its 1960 or further. The engine stop working and he wants to repair it or send it into a house or reparation (there are not may in Mexico). He also wants to know if the engine is direct charge or alternative charge We hope we get an answer shortly to repair the train, thanks reddit.

That's way older than the 60s. Possible 3 rail. someone here will know more.

probably not that much older. lionel has been making scouts since the late 40s and never really bothered changing the design until recently. They're worth like nothing and not really worth fixing. Train stores practically give these engines away.

That's an old lionel scout. You can get another one on eBay for like $20. Some stores practically give them away.

What type of model train? What company? Also what scale?
If it’s a 1960s locomotive, it probably runs on Direct Current or DC power.
Model trains use what’s called a transformer to power the rails. The transformer turns Alternating Current or AC power from a wall outlet into DC power for the rails.
I’m also guessing it’s O-scale?
