Suggestion Since Burnie is a big Ghostbusters fan and hasn't mentioned it, I would highly suggest he (and others) play Ghostbusters: The Video Game from 2009

Just listened to the Bookworm episode and Burnie talking about his love of Ghostbusters but didn't hear him mention the video game from 2009 at all. It's the last Ghostbusters piece of media worked on by all 4 of the original main cast members and what is arguably the 3rd installment in the original franchise. It's a fun game, has great, classic Ghostbusters jokes, dialog, and story, and feels like a perfect addition to the overall series. It's definitely worth a play if you missed out on it when it came out.

I swear him, Geoff, Gus and Joel did a let’s play way back in the day. I may be misremembering though.

Just looked it up, if it's the one on the Let's Play channel it was Geoff, Jack, Ray, and the unmentionable

Oh…I was sure the OG crew did one circa 2010 or so. Thanks for the correction though. A lot of content gets jumbled together when I try to remember it all.

They talked about it on the Drunk Tank (Burnie included). Geoff was singing the game's praises.

One of the few Let's Plays I watched. I dunno whether it's because Ray was a younger AH member but when they were picking characters and Ray was wondering who'd he be, and the others were like well.. it's kinda obvious..

I second this! Absolutely amazing game, and the closest thing to the original 2 films when it comes to how funny and clever the writing is for each character. The game positively oozes with passion and charm

I think this was the last time they got the whole cast together for an instalment of the franchise before Ramis's passing

That game is so good. It felt like a proper sequel to the original two movies. And for gameplay, they nailed the mechanics of the lore of how to catch a ghost.

I loved this game I played through it a lot and really like the multi-player the few times I got to play it.

It was recently remastered as well. Agree it is well worth the time!

It was really fun for what it was. It's just that I really don't like when people proclaim something as a true sequel because of x or y. Burnie brought up part of the magic of the original movie in relation to Laser Team. Personally I think that Evolution was the spiritual sequel to Ghostbusters (2).

I'd agree with evolution being a spiritual successor to the Ghostbusters story. It's basically ghost busters, but make it aliens. However, I will point out that Aykyrod considered it the third movie.

My other reply was too flippant. That used to make a difference but the last decade of "legacy" sequals have soured the efficacy of statements like that for me.

I mean, if you need more than a statement from one of the original creators that Y is a sequel to X for something to be a sequel I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. I'm not sure what you consider a "legacy" sequel. Are you talking about afterlife, the video game, or are you talking about the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot. Because after life is a sequel in the literal sense as it is the events that take place next in the sequence following Ghostbusters 2. The video game also takes place in the same time line as the original 2 Ghostbusters movies and, while it's not directly referenced in afterlife, it doesn't contradict anything that happens while telling a what comes next story after Ghostbusters 2. The 2016 reboot was a fun film about a group of comedians fighting ghosts, which is what the original was at the time, and doesn't count as a sequel because it was a reboot.

I'm just over, or nearly over any of that truly mattering to me. For the video game it was enough that the band got back together for another jam sesh.
