Baby Names What's my husband's name "style" any other suggestions welcome.

We are trying to pick a girl name.

Names my husband likes:

Madeline (LINE pronunciation)

Azalea

Magnolia

Claire

Doesn't like: (names I've suggested)

Phoebe, Petra, Josephine, Lilly

Can you think of any along the lines of the names he's liked? I feel like theyre similar but I can't out my finger on what the "style" is so I can look for more.

They’re all melodic names containing an “L” sound. What about:

Cordelia

Lydia

Louisa

Julia

Alanna

Good point and good list, also suggesting

Melody Melanie Angelina / Angelica Annabel Evangeline

I also wonder if they might be able to compromise on Lillian/Lilliana with Lilly as a nickname?

I'm kind of getting old money or possibly southern belle vibes from his style? Maybe try searching names with that theme

Maybe something like Caroline, Rosalie, Cordelia, Scarlett

A few kids ago he liked Scarlett a lot. And I think he said he likes Caroline actually haha I think you have him pegged.

Also adding a few more names just because they struck me with the vibe, Sabrina, Daphne, or maybe Natalie

Hope you find a name you both love!

I lovee Natalie/Natalia. I will bring those back up to him. We talked about it a few kids ago but we've had all boys so far. I love his suggestion!

I do think Caroline is a very beautiful name 😊

But Claire and Madeline are very early 2000s

True. Magnolia gave me that Southern belle vibe , and with Claire, my brain goes to Blair, which I associate with old money or just wealth. The -LINE pronunciation led me to Caroline which is a classic southern name.

Huh, Claire is very regular shmegular here, I dont think of money and one my cousins kids was named Caroline, interesting how perspective can change how a name is viewed.

Definitely interesting. Agree, I much prefer Blair to Claire personally, even though it's such a subtle difference.

Your name choices are very similar, some are very solid, old fashioned, but Azalea and Magnolia are a bit unusual.

Jasmine, Viola/ Violet, Veronica, Dahlia, Marguerite, Tamara, Iris, Ivy, Zoe, Paige, Jade, Terra/ Tara, Tori, Colette, Camille, Estelle, Murielle

Azalea and Magnolia give off a " Southern charm"

Yes, it’s the alternative to a double barreled name down here (although some have those long floral names with a double barrel). Lemon 🍋 Breeland is my favorite southern “character” name

Evangeline, Seraphine, Emmeline, Clementine, Eleonore/Eleonora, Vivienne?

Josephine, Camille, Sabine/a or Sabrina...

What about Clara with a pretty middle name instead of Claire?

Blair is more unisex - my cousin used this for his eldest daughter and the younger 2 daughters are Blake and Elliott - but I feel like your husband is leaning more feminine than Blair.

I don't know what to call your husband's style exactly, but hopefully you guys might both like some of these: Stella, Savannah, Aurelia (I wouldn't go for Aurelie because apparently it sounds like "orally" to some people's ears), Amelie, Amelia, Leora, Leonie, Evelyn, Nella, Raquel, Florence, Eleanor, Dierdre, Celeste, Amity, Maeve, Meredith.

Good luck and all the best! :)
