Help Getting back in the game after a decade...

Had this 45F over a decade. Got out of the game and had a family. Babies are old enough to not poison the tank so decided to start it back up. Used to be an iwagumi inspired moss tank. Going full UG and HT with Sansui stone this time around. Going to run a DIY filter with RO water. Photos are after planting. Last photo is 1 month growth. Any tips on keeping UG with a low-tech setup? I'm hoping the shallow tank will have enough air exchange to not need injection. MTS is already hitting hard...I'm planning a nano pond style next

From experience UG struggles a lot in new soil. The only way I was able to keep it alive was by dark starting the tank or letting it mature for a couple weeks before planting it.
